Hi,
I've been on rawhide for quite some time now, and although I defragment my ext4 filesystem regulary, startup is quite slow. Until KDE has fully started up, it takes almost 2 minutes on my Core2Duo laptop. I've a second partitition where I've installed Kubuntu-8.10 alpha 5 and it boots in a fraction of time.
These are the tasks, that take a lot of time during start: 10s kernel (+intel kms) 5s udev 7-10s checking kmods hal: 5s Xorg + kdm: ~15s KDE: 20s
I wonder where the large difference between Fedora and Kubuntu comes from? Any ideas how I can improve boot time?
