Have not tried to partition the drive other than the installer on that laptop. As
it is old, we pulled the drive today and did some other work on the laptop. Until
we get a new BIOS battery into the machine, it is on hold. Will test as soon as
the battery is replace.

FWIW, the HD on my old Acer Aspire 5920 decided to go belly-up. So, I acquired a
Crucial MX300 275GB drive and did a fresh install from a KDE Live USB image. No
problems to install or use.
