No, I'm talking update the new update notifier in FC6, which has disappeared
completely by the way at the moment and does not reappear even if there are
updates available for the system.

Hi Eric. I presume this is on FC4, which was the last to have the update
notification icon. The only thing I can think of, is that Redhat is telling
you that Fedora-legacy updates are available, but you don't have the
Fedora-legacy URL in /etc/yum.repos.d, so are not able to retrieve them.
