Hi All,
I have recently started having problems when running Network Manager on FC3. I have been using it without any major problems for a while, but now when I activate the server, its seems to work, connecting correctly to the appropriate network. The problem is that it seems to start up nscd which then goes into a 100 % cpu usage state, and also seems broken since "su" for example then no longer works.
I'm not really sure where the problem is, but I suspect nscd since I get a similar problem is I start it by hand, even if Networkmanager is not running.
Any suggestions ?
I'm running nscd 2.3.4-2.fc3 updated from the fedora repositories. I have updated things recently (must notably going to kde 3.4) but I cannot pinpoint any change that caused this...
cheers Chris
Hi,
Turned out the problem was the nscd cache files had somehow got corrupted. Deleting them forced nscd to rebuild and since then its been fine...
sorry for the noise.
Chris
