I am running a server in college at the minute. I just re installed it

have exactly the same iptables problem.
If I do:
service iptables start
I just get returned to the prompt, the same with /etc/init.d/iptables
Why am I getting no output, how can I get iptables to start please?
If there are no errors in the rules, starting iptables is silent.
If you want to see the rules in effect, use the command "iptables -L"

People having trouble with vz bouncing email to me should add the word
'online' between the 'verizon', and the dot which bypasses vz's
stupid bounce rules. I do use spamassassin too. :-)
