The Sun JDK uses its own font rendering engine which is not as good as
(and certainly not consistent with) freetype, so it's not a Fedora bug
but a result of the way font rendering is implemented in the JRE. The
Java 6 folks at Sun are interested in desktop issues, so it's best to
take it up with them.
