Good, it took me this long to download, unpack, install, configure, and determine that
Thunderbird 68.2.2 did work with Gmail as you said it did, then I had to create my
Fastmail.us account to get this message to respond to. And Mpzilla version does work while
the Fedora verssions do not. I'll add to your BZ in the morning.

Actually, no need to add to that BZ.
I am closing it as the thunderbird in updates-testing fixes the problem.
