I have a Dell XPS 15 9500 laptop. I've already listed other issues with this laptop running Fedora 33. Here's a new one :(
lspic -k shows the following:
0:14.3 Network controller: Intel Corporation Comet Lake PCH CNVi WiFi Subsystem: Rivet Networks Device 1651 Kernel modules: iwlwifi
lsmod shows the following:
lsmod | grep iwl iwlwifi 344064 0 cfg80211 954368 1 iwlwifi
So the appropriate wireless driver is loaded, however ifconfig shows the following devices:
enp0s20f0u1u4: flags=4163<UP,BROADCAST,RUNNING,MULTICAST> mtu 1500 inet 192.168.10.2 netmask 255.255.255.0 broadcast 192.168.10.255 inet6 fe80::7484:4652:d8fb:2914 prefixlen 64 scopeid 0x20<link> ether 00:e0:4c:68:0b:68 txqueuelen 1000 (Ethernet) RX packets 22169 bytes 20677661 (19.7 MiB) RX errors 0 dropped 0 overruns 0 frame 0 TX packets 20374 bytes 7329505 (6.9 MiB) TX errors 0 dropped 0 overruns 0 carrier 0 collisions 0

Note there is no wireless device listed.
So what do I need to do to get wireless working on this laptop under Fedora?

What desktop environment are you using? What do "iw dev" and "rfkill" show you?
You need to run "ifconfig -a" to show all interfaces including "down" network hardware, otherwise it defaults to only show up interfaces.

I know wireless works because I can boot the laptop to Windows 10 and it sees the available wireless networks.
On another note the Ethernet device keeps changing name is there any way to stop this?
Here's what it's been named so far:
enp0s20f0u1u4 enp0s20f0u5u3 enp0s20f0u1u1 enp0s20f0u3 enp55s0u2u3
The current name is enp0s20f0u1u4. Every time it changes name I have to go fix up the DNS info.

Do an ethtool -i <currentnetdevicename>
What does dmidecode look like?
The only time I have seen the device name change names like that (without bios settings and/or hardware being rearranged) is on virtual hosts. So no idea what is going on there.

https://linux-hardware.org/?id=pci:8086-06f0-8086-0074 lists many systems with CNVi WiFi, only a few that don't work. I think there are several versions of CNVi WiFi; support for the latest version came with 5.10 kernels. You probably need iwlmvm with iwlwifi, see: https://wireless.wiki.kernel.org/en/users/drivers/iwlwifi#firmware.

Folks, I finally found the resolution to F33 not finding my wireless. I found it on an Ubuntu list
https://askubuntu.com/questions/1083369/ubuntu-18-04-cannot-recognized-intel...
In short the issue is with Windows 10. Under the setup for what the power buttons do it has the "Turn on fast startup" feature enabled. If you disable this and reboot the wireless works.

When Windows fast startup is enabled, both my dual boot systems booted Windows (like hibernation), so I always disable Windows fast start. I haven't done a new install in a couple years. It seems the behaviour with fast startup enabled can be diverse, and maybe not without glitches.
