Hi all,
Is there a way to use yum to check on packages for different versions of fedora than the one being used?

Yum uses your current release version to access the fedora repos. Installing from repos that are not of you current fedora release version can and usually does, lead to chaos if not the breakdown of your existing installation, due to a huge chain of dependencies.

Yum in recent versions accepts a --releasever argument which might do what you want. For example, I can run yum --releasever=12 search foo while running say Fedora 13.
