A version conflict is making it impossible to upgrade my system to the latest kernel and/or native nvidia drivers. Usually these conflicts clear up after a few days, when the repositories come into sync but this one has been around for quite a while.
The system is a 4-processor x86_64 system running Fedora-19 with most upgrades installed current kernel is kernel-3.9.9-301.fc19.x86_64 current nvidia rpms are: nvidia-settings-desktop-1.0-32.fc19.x86_64 kmod-nvidia-304xx-3.9.6-200.fc18.x86_64-304.88-1.fc18.2.x86_64 xorg-x11-drv-nvidia-304xx-libs-304.88-5.fc19.x86_64 akmod-nvidia-304xx-304.88-1.fc19.3.x86_64 nvidia-settings-1.0-32.fc19.x86_64 nvidia-xconfig-1.0-28.fc19.x86_64 kmod-nvidia-304xx-3.9.9-301.fc19.x86_64-304.88-1.fc19.6.x86_64 xorg-x11-drv-nvidia-304xx-304.88-5.fc19.x86_64 xorg-x11-drv-nvidia-304xx-libs-304.88-5.fc19.i686
The bottom line is that yum upgrade fails as follows; a complete upgrade log is attached. # yum --skip-broken upgrade ... Packages skipped because of dependency problems: 1:akmod-nvidia-319.32-1.fc19.x86_64 from rpmfusion-nonfree-updates akmod-nvidia-173xx-173.14.37-1.fc19.4.x86_64 from rpmfusion-nonfree kernel-3.9.9-302.fc19.x86_64 from updates libXvMC-1.0.8-1.fc19.i686 from updates libXvMC-1.0.8-1.fc19.x86_64 from updates 1:xorg-x11-drv-nvidia-319.32-4.fc19.x86_64 from rpmfusion-nonfree-updates xorg-x11-drv-nvidia-173xx-173.14.37-2.fc19.x86_64 from rpmfusion-nonfree-updates xorg-x11-drv-nvidia-173xx-libs-173.14.37-2.fc19.x86_64 from rpmfusion-nonfree-updates xorg-x11-drv-nvidia-304xx-304.88-9.fc19.x86_64 from rpmfusion-nonfree-updates xorg-x11-drv-nvidia-304xx-libs-304.88-9.fc19.i686 from rpmfusion-nonfree-updates xorg-x11-drv-nvidia-304xx-libs-304.88-9.fc19.x86_64 from rpmfusion-nonfree-updates 1:xorg-x11-drv-nvidia-libs-319.32-4.fc19.x86_64 from rpmfusion-nonfree-updates

I had the same issue and got fed up with waiting for the conflicts to be solved. Here is what I did: 1. removed all nvidia packages: $ yum remove *nvidia* 2. rebooted 3. reinstalled nvidia packages: $ yum install akmod-nvidia nvidia-settings nvidia-xconfig 4. rebooted
Cheers,
Frédéric

See https://bugzilla.rpmfusion.org/show_bug.cgi?id=2879, particularly comment #22. I got fedup too, and it worked after some trying with excluding.
BTW, there's an update for yum, you probably want to update that first.

And interestingly, I found dnf did the update without issues. That's +1 for dnf.

Can yum and dnf used interchangeably? Does dnf work well? I might just try it out ...
Something did change with the packages it seems, 'yum update' wants to update the NVIDIA drivers again.

You are still discussing this on the wrong list.....

dnf is a experimental fork of yum but works reasonably well and can be used interchangeably.

Hm, I am not so sure that it works reasonably well. Am I doing something wrong here?
