Hi, each time i boot fedora i must enable by hand the eth0 device (by the gui congig-tool). What must i do to enable the device at boot?
# cat /etc/sysconfig/network NETWORKING=yes HOSTNAME=bugs.acme
# cat /etc/sysconfig/networking/devices/ifcfg-eth0 # cat /etc/sysconfig/networking/profiles/default/ifcfg-eth0 # cat /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0 all 3 the same output # Macronix, Inc. [MXIC]|MX987x5 DEVICE=eth0 BOOTPROTO=dhcp HWADDR=00:50:BF:76:39:8F ONBOOT=yes TYPE=Ethernet DHCP_HOSTNAME=bugs.acme USERCTL=no PEERDNS=no
Thx Wolfgang alias wfx (http://teg.sf.net)

Your /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0 looks ok. What does a 'chkconfig --list network' show?
Cheers,
Tim

Hi Tim, it was not in any runlevel so i add it with "# /sbin/chkconfig --list network" So the gui tool for nic does not add it be default.
Ps: Where do i find the (Admin)Dokumentation?
Thx.

Hi Wolfgang,
chkconfig --list network won't have added the network service to any runlevel. You should do a 'chkconfig network on' command to turn it on in your default runlevels.
I'm actually using RedHat9 so I don't know if this tool is in Fedora, but you can turn networking on graphically yb using the Services tool that you should find in your System Settings menu. You just need to tick the checkbox next to the appropriate service to turn it on or off for your default runlevel.

I don't know the answer to this one I'm afraid. Like I said, I'm still using RedHat 9.
Cheers
Using FC1, where is the simplest setup instructions to the most basic use of Spamassassin with Postfix. I have working Postfix. I have tried using Webmin to setup Procmail and SA, but I always break it such that no email is received at all.
This is pretty off-topic, so if you could help me, please email me off-list if you wish at ham_reflectors@wa9als.com. Thanks - John

Try http://www.stearns.org/doc/spamassassin-setup.current.html for SA and procmail. See http://www.securitysage.com/guides/postfix_uce.html for Postfix and SA.

Thx a lot.
Hi, This is my second try. I did not do a good job responding to the responses.
I have a new MSI K9MM-V motherboard (AMD 64 X2) with a 4000+ dual AMD cpu. There were no indicated problems with the installation. The onboard network interface eth0 works fine when I a browsing the Internet. When I try to copy files over the LAN (scp, ftp, samba), the interface stops working. When I used Ethereal, it hung on a retransmit request repeatedly.
I don't find any issues in Google except the MTU size.
The drivers supplied with the MB are pretty old - up to FC 3. I am using the drivers supplied with FC 8
How can I determine if It is * Configuration * Drivers * Defective motherboard?
Here is my modprobe.conf ###alias eth0 via-rhine ###alias eth0 velocityget alias eth0 via-rhine alias scsi_hostadapter libata alias scsi_hostadapter1 pata_via alias scsi_hostadapter2 sata_via alias snd-card-0 snd-via82xx options snd-card-0 index=0 options snd-via82xx index=0
Thanks Mike Johnston

Since your using the GUI to reactivate the ethernet card, if you go into the configuration area and edit DEVICES. There is a checkbox, which says "Activate device when computer starts", tick this box, and save the configuration. Then the next time you boot the system the ethernet device will start. (It's always worked for me)
