Hello, my dear Fedorians!
I was using compiz with no problems and almost "out of the box" after installing livna's kmod-nvidia of course.
Some time after installation I began loosing the window title and controls (_, [] and X) and then, it just started freezing my computer just like that.
This always happened while turning "Desktop Effects" on and off. Last time I had to remove and reinstall compiz and delete ~/.gconf/apps/compiz for it to start working (without FX)
Has anybody suffered from this too? Can anybody help?
BTW, I am an x86_64 arch user (amd x2)
I have a GeForce 7900 GS]

Just got that working myself, a couple of days ago.

I saw that too. I lost those gadgets, and had to hold down ALT while I clicked in the middle of windows to move them asside. I had a confirmation dialogue box waiting for me behind another window. The computer hadn't frozen, but I had things in the way that weren't responding to input. The top-of-screen menubar still worked.
I've not uninstalled/re-installed things to sort it out. Just what I said above, and I did a CTRL+ALT+BACKSPACE to restart X, the first few times.

Well, it really froze with me. Even the keyboard froze; caps lock and num lock didn't respond. It has happened to me too... but this is different.

Ctrl+Alt+Backspace didn't work... I left it there for 20 mins too...

I was able to get back the title bar and buttons by running 'metacity --replace' followed by 'compiz --replace' . I did try to reinstall compiz but it seemed it make no difference.
If this happens often then maybe something important was removed from metacity to compiz transition and is causing the error. (Oh that is not needed any longer, remove code.)

I have the problem afer trying out the beryl manager. I noticed the obvious missing maximize, close buttons but did not notice the title bar gone also. It is not present either.
me too, I guess.

Compiz was working fine for me on my work laptop (HP nx7400), but recently it's gone down the tubes:
1. window borders randomly disappear 2. windws don't resize properly 3. apps, when maxmized, are sitting on two different workspaces
I've had to turn it off to regain use of my desktop.
I think it's pretty obvious an update has busted it for some people.
