Dear friends,
I have been e-mailed a pdf file and I wanted to know who the author was
and what the date/time of creation was. Is it possible for me to find
this information using tools available on the F24 repositories?

Ranjan,
imbw, tho i do believe such info being contained within a .pdf file
would be determined by the pdf file composer.
if a pdf composer does include such info, you can search source of
pdf file for _viewable_ text with;
hexdump -C filename.pdf|less
or
hexdump -C filename.pdf>save2textfile
if pdf file is 'notable', you could try a web search to see if there
has been any write ups.
much luck.
