Hello, In the next week I'm going to have to work at place where high-speed internet does not exist. My work requires linux, and I'm used to FC 6, so I'm thinking of installing Fedora on the machine that I'm using there. Either FC 6 or 7 should work for me. I'm going to bring the ISO's on DVD. I've also download Livna repo and burning it to DVD (just in case I need some of their stuff).
My question is, what's the best way to download all the latest update for FC 6 (core, extras) and FC 7 ? Is there any site that has an ISO image of this, or should I just hit one of the mirror and download each RPM individually ?
Thanks. RDB

There seems to be a thing called a re-spin of a DVD which has almost all the updates within but I don't know where to get it. And avoid F7 it's too new yet.

The group is know as Fedora Unity Project. Here's the link for their re-spins: http://fedoraunity.org/re-spins

Thank you so much Kam, I didn't have the actual web site for the re-spin.

You're welcome.
Reuben, you should go with your mirroring idea; especially, if you want the lastest updates and need packages from Extras.

I tried FC6 respin couple of weeks (months?) ago and the seeding of torrent is so poor, that after couple of days of downloading the .iso I gave up. Installing original FC6 and running yum upgrade was just much faster (yes, I have no limit on amount of bandwidth I use here).
Just one datapoint, of course.

But there are a surprising number of packages to upgrade, at least with Fedora-7. IIRC, there were over 1GB of upgrade packages a few days ago.
Incidentally, I don't agree with the comment about Fedora-7. I think I have had fewer problems installing and running Fedora-7 on a number of machines than I did with FC-6.

My suggestion would be to bring an F7 install DVD and mirrors of everything, updates and livna along. You will need to split everything into 2 DVDs. Make sure you grab the whole repository, not just the rpms. That way you can point to local repositories when adding packages. If you decide to use FC6, the you would want core, extras and livna. lftp has a nice mirroring facility and makes it simple to get updates. One caution when grabbing a copy of updates, is that mirrors can be out of sync for periods of times, so that the repo files don't match the rpms that are there. You want to check that you have a consistant copy before you go somewhere where you can't easily fix things.
