I had the same issue and got fed up with waiting for the conflicts to be solved. Here is what I did:
- removed all nvidia packages:
$ yum remove *nvidia* 2. rebooted 3. reinstalled nvidia packages: $ yum install akmod-nvidia nvidia-settings nvidia-xconfig 4. rebooted

And interestingly, I found dnf did the update without issues. That's +1 for dnf.
