I installed FC5 and updated with yum. When I boot, I receive this message: "FATAL: Error inserting acpi_cpufreq (/lib/modules/2.6.18-1.2200.fc5/kernel/arch/i386/kernel/cpu/cpufreq/acpi-cpu freq.ko): No such device" Can you help me?
Hi Andrea,
You have the same problem as me! The problem is inside /etc/cpuspeed.conf. You will find that the only driver listed there is PowerNow, so unless you are using a AMD processor, you will probably get the error you are seeing now. I have a Centrino CPU and tried to add speedstep_centrino, but that driver is missing too. Artu on this list said something about an ondemand governor which I will look into tomorrow morning.
Hi Andrea,
Just got a reply from Artu.
1. Edit /etc/cpuspeed.conf and add the following line :
DRIVER="cpufreq_ondemand"
2. Save the file and restart cpuspeed : # service cpuspeed start
Enjoy ! and Thanks to Artu for the solution !
