"ef53" is a signature for ext3 filesystems. Do you see it there? Do you see
anything in that 1k of data?
[root@raos_apps01 ~]# dd if=/dev/sdb1 bs=1k count=1 skip=1 | od -h
0000000 2032 0000 6032 0000 a032 0000 e032 0000
What does parted tell you about sdb?
# parted /dev/sdb print
[root@raos_apps01 ~]# parted /dev/sdb print
Model: DELL PERC H700 (scsi)
Disk /dev/sdb: 15.0TB
Sector size (logical/physical): 512B/512B
Partition Table: gpt
Number Start End Size File system Name Flags
1 1000kB 15.0TB 15.0TB ext3
I tried to get a listing of backup superblocks by doing the
following:
[root@raos_apps01 ~]# mke2fs -b 8192 -n /dev/sdb1
mke2fs: 8192-byte blocks too big for system (max 4096) Proceed anyway?
(y,n) y
If you know that the maximum block size is 4096, why are you asking it for superblock on a
filesystem with 8k blocks?
