I have a hard time believing this was done by a Red Hat employee at Red Hat’s behest, since Red Hat is mostly concerned with GNOME and the vlc change was being included in a KDE change.
This accusation is being thrown around, as some sort of malicious action. It was, at best, poor communication between Fedora packagers and RPMfusion, and delays in packages being released during a period when many people are spending time with their family and not paying attention to packaging drama.

package/mod install issue

Hi,
Working with a test DO process, to install a package/module
install npm
.
.
.
Failed to restart ssh.service: Transaction contains conflicting jobs
'stop' and 'restart' for ssh.service. Probably contradicting
requirement dependencies configured.
See system logs and 'systemctl status ssh.service' for details.
Could not execute systemctl: at /usr/bin/deb-systemd-invoke line 142.
Failed to restart ssh.socket: Transaction contains conflicting jobs
'restart' and 'stop' for ssh.service. Probably contradicting
requirement dependencies configured.
See system logs and 'systemctl status ssh.socket' for details.
.
.
Trying to figure out what/where I can research to try to resolve this.
Checking different 'net sites haven't produced a solution.
The test system already had/has a working ssh/sshd process.
Obviously, the sshd can't be stopped! I did try to "update" with no improvement

rsync error: unexplained error (code 255) at io.c(231) [sender=3.2.7]
When I just try the ssh inside

How do I turn this off so I get the old command prompt for the password?

ipp-usb constantly running?
by Tom Horsley
I might print something once a week (if that), I've got a USB connected
Brother laser printer. I now see ipp-usb running all the time at about
3% cpu and using about 2.6 meg of memory. Why is it using cpu all
the time when I'm almost never printing? If I remove it, will I
be able to print the old way from before this "improvement"?

VLC in Fedora vs RPMFusion
by Richard W.M. Jones
I just did an upgrade on my Fedora 38(-ish) machine and dnf wants to
replace the rpmfusion version of vlc:
Name : vlc

Release : 0.7.fc39
Architecture: x86_64

capable of reading most audio and video formats as well as DVDs, Audio CDs VCDs,
and various streaming protocols.
It can also be used as a media converter or a server to stream in uni-cast or
multi-cast in IPv4 or IPv6 on networks.
with a version from Fedora updates:

Architecture : x86_64
Size : 189 k
Source : vlc-3.0.20-4.fc38.src.rpm

(Actually the upgrade was a bit more complicated, replacing vlc-core
with vlc-cli and adding a bunch of plugins.)
Is there some advantage here? I don't want to lose the ability to
playback weird / proprietary stuff, which is (I assume) why I needed
to use vlc from rpmfusion.
Also is there a web page that discusses this stuff? Google search is
so full of "install vlc for fedora" spam sites that it's really hard
to find anything relevant.
Rich.
