Fedora 35 KDE: Battery critical: suspend requires authentication
by jtagcat jtagcat
1. Critical power level, notification that the computer will shut down in 60 seconds unless plugged in.
Expected: 2. Pressing sleep button or closing lid will suspend device without authentication (normal non-critical power level operation)
Actual: 2. The computer will not go to sleep, a graphical polkit password prompt is shown. Computer will sleep after password entered.
shutdown -c doesn't require privileges, even when the shutdown is scheduled by root.
Where do I go to report this bug?

plantronics blackwire 3310 in F33 workstation
by Anil Felipe Duggirala
Hello everyone,
I have just bought a Plantronics Blackwire 3310 headset, it connects via USB. I am connecting the headset and it appears to work well (I tested with skype). I have, however, a question.
Is it normal for this device to show up in my Input Devices (in the Sound settings - Gnome) as a "Analog Input - Poly Blackwire 3310". Isn't the sound coming in from my usb device, digital?
Also, there is a test function in those settings, when I click the test button (headset is mono), all I get is static noise, is that supposed to be the test sound?
thanks for your help,

F35 Xfce - rather unattractive default icons
by Robert Moskowitz
I am NOT impressed with the icons I am seeing on my desktop.
The trash a bright green recycling image from the calming trash can.
in Thunar, .mp4 are showing as a play symbol rather than a movie reel
that I was use to.
.zip files as a zipper? I knew Phil Katz of PKzip. Was there on the
BBS group that I managed when he got on and said he may have lost in
court, but he would bury ARC in code. And he did. A zipper? The old
box to open was more reflective (in my humble opinion) of what would
happen if you click here.
Anyway, I have been digging around and have not found anyway to select
other icons. Pointers?
thanks
for reading my rant. :)

F35 HP Device Manager wont quit
by Robert Moskowitz
New F35 setup with Xfce.
I have migrated much of my content from my F32 system and I will be
asking questions here as I struggle with the move.
But first, I finally got my HP8600 setup and got hplip-gui and sane
installed then ran HPLIB Graphical Tools from the Administration choice.
Seems to work fine. Mostly looks the same as with F32, except.
When I quit the gui, it leaves something running up on the system tray
(did that in F32, nothing new there).
But it shows a yellow triangle with "!" in it. Some kind of alert. I
try to quit HPLIB, the entry on the system tray does not go away. I try
to open it with a double click, nothing happens.
So something is wrong. Any advice on how to trouble shoot this?

Flatpack apps & ABRT - ?
by lejeczek
Hi guys.
I want to ask if you have your app as Flatpak and if/when it
crashes - does your ABRT work for such crashes?
I have Microsoft Teams crash (too often) and ABRT does not
seem to able to do much for that, it says each time:
Processing failed.
...
..
and in its log:
--- Running report_uReport ---
Error: No segments found in coredump './coredump'
('report_uReport' exited with 1)
many thanks, L.

Slack dropping Fedora support
by SternData
This just popped up on Slack: "Note: Starting March 1, 2022, Slack will
no longer support Fedora Linux distributions."
Anyone know what's going on? And maybe interested in engaging them on
Twitter @slackhq to ask for reconsideration?
