Strange Artifacts on the Panel
by Jonathan Ryshpan
I've been seeing strange things on my panel for about a week or two.
They are triangles or lines extending horizontally from a region of
some color, narrowing to a point. They last generally for up to about
30 seconds. Attached is a picture of such an artifact
(PanelArtifact.jpg), taken with my cell phone. Note the black stripe
just above "System Information". Has anyone seen anything like this
System: Fedora-32 all updates installed
Processor: 4 x Intel i5 4460 CPU at 3.2 GHz
Memory: 15.5 GiB RAM
Video System: Xorg (not Wayland)
Graphics: Mesa DRI Intel HD Graphics 4600

Plasma on Xorg Fails to Start After Last System Update
by Stephen Morris
Hi,
Three days ago I did a dnf system upgrade to apply all available
Fedora updates. I have now tried to start Plasma under Xorg, but it now
refuses to start with a crash in ksplashqml, and if I press
ctrl-alt-delete to try to logout the ksmserver-greeter also crashes.
Plasma under Wayland runs quite happily albeit without resolution
scaling. Gnome under Wayland runs fine without scaling and Gnome under
Xorg also runs fine. How do I determine why the apps are failing with
Plasma under Xorg now?

Steve

How to build rpm Krita from krita.spec ?
by Cătălin George Feștilă
I used this tutorial to build the Krita from sources: https://docs.krita.org/en/untranslatable_pages/building_krita.html#prepar....
This is the result of the rpmlint tool:
rpmlint krita.spec ../SRPMS/krita* ../RPMS/*/krita*
(none): E: no installed packages by name ../SRPMS/krita*
(none): E: no installed packages by name ../RPMS/*/krita*
0 packages and 1 specfiles checked; 0 errors, 0 warnings.

Windows 10 + F33 + SSD + RAID
by Paolo Galtieri
Folks,
I have a new dell laptop. I tried to install Fedora 33 on it, but it
failed to find any disks. I searched the internet and discovered that
if my BIOS has RAID enabled F33 is unable to find any drives. I
disabled RAID and enable AHCI and was then able to install and boot
F33. I then tried to boot Windows 10. This failed until I entered the
bitlock key. I then went back into the BIOS and re-enabled RAID and
verified Windows 10 boots without error, but Fedora 33 no longer does
since it can't find any drives. What if I want RAID enabled? Is there
a solution to this problem?

Re: Backing up system
by gmspro
Hi,
http://www.sysresccd.org/Download
With the SystemRescueCd I backed up the /dev/sda6 partition in /mnt/backup/ naming "diskimage"
After backing up operation the file has the automatic extension like "diskimage.000".
Is this file ok to restore?
If I name it "diskimage.gz" then it is automatically renamed with this extension "diskimage.gz.000"
But here below
http://www.sysresccd.org/Screenshots
the file is name like this:
"diskimage.pimg"
Do I have to name with the .pimg extension during backup to restore correctly?
And how can I restore it?

xnview
by Patrick Dupre
Hello,
I did not find xnview for fedora.
Is there an alternative?
I also installed XnViewMP-linux-x64.tgz, but I get:
/usr/src/misc/XnView/XnView: error while loading shared libraries: libbz2.so.1.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
Can I fix this issue?
Thanks.
