grub has wrong path for Windows boot
by sean darcy
I'm on FC31, dual boot.
os-prober finds the Windows efi boot partition. /dev/nvme0n1p1
sudo mount /dev/nvme0n1p1 nvme0n1p1/
$ ls nvme0n1p1/EFI/Microsoft/Boot/bootmgfw.efi
nvme0n1p1/EFI/Microsoft/Boot/bootmgfw.efi
But boot from the grub menu fails:
'/efi/Microsoft/Boot/bootmgfw.efi' not found
because the grub path use lower case efi, while the the actual path has
it capitalized.
Where does grub store the path it uses for the Windows boot manager ?

Grub stops before booting F31
by andrew@gn.apc.org
Hello!
I seem to have inadvertently change partition 1 on my hard disk ...
At boot, Grub enters its rescue mode with the message error: unknown file
system.
If I use my Fedora 32 live USB to boot then I can bring up the F32 desktop.
If I run Disks utility then I have:
Partition 1: size 1.1GB ; device /dev/sd1 ; type Linux bootable
Partition 2: size 499 GB ; device /dev/sda2 ; Linux LVM ; contents unknown
Any suggestions ... I might have set partition 1 as the wrong file type or
similar is that possible and how do I fix it ... ??
Thanks for your continued help and assistance.
Andrew, Oxford uk

dual Ethernet adapters?
by ToddAndMargo
Hi All,
Not to ask too silly a question, but what happens when
you have dual Ethernet adapters and you hook both of
them to your (switching) hub?
You go twice as fast?
Many thanks,

Subject: dual Ethernet adapters?
Hi All,

You go twice as fast?
Very seldom.
You might try bonding, but remember about “the weakest link in the chain”.
Dual adapters are very helpfull when dealing with multiple segments, or multiple internet providers.
Many thanks,

dnfdragora freezing, pausing, crashing
by Richard England
Before I spend inordinate amounts of time on this, has anyone else
encountered dnfdragora freezing or crashing since upgrading a machine
from f31 to f32? This is when starting it as a normal user.
I have 2 machines that his happens on and one that does not.
On the first machine, if I run from the command line I'm seeing the message
Get root backend. Locked (False)
/usr/lib64/python3.8/site-packages/yui.py:1472: Warning: Source ID
582 was not found when attempting to remove it
return _yui.YDialog_waitForEvent(self, timeout_millisec)
repeatedly when the GUI goes non-responsive. The "Source ID " value
increases but not monotonically. No caching occurs and the same message
just scrolls by. The GUI "Quit" button does work.
If I run from the command line as a login root user (su -) the only
message I see is the "Get root backend...." message but the behaviour is
the same.
On another machine, if I start as a normal user the caching proceeds but
when it is done the GUI disappears and the transcript shows
Unexpected error: <class 'KeyError'>
When I run in a login terminal (su -) it seems to work fine (I do see a
couple of the "Get root backend..." messages but eventually caching
finishes and I see the expected list of update packages).
dnf update or dnf upgrade still works as expected on both machines.
Any insight, suggestions, or debugging ideas appreciated.

nothing provides module platform:f31
by John M. Harris Jr
So, apparently GIMP is a module now, which I wasn't aware of before.. Upon
attempting to update to F32 on a workstation, I'm running into:
nothing provides module(platform:f31) needed by module gimp:
2.10:3120191106095052:f636be4b-0.x86_64
I can just --skip-broken on this one, but is there something to this that I'm
not aware of that will resolve the dependency issue, or is another instance
where Modularity has broken Fedora's repos?

Restoring a USB back-up using Back-ups (Duplicity) on Fedora
by Andrew Wood
Hello,
I had a USB flash drive which I backed using Back-ups (Duplicity) on
Fedora 31. The USB volume was called /run/media/awood/7160-75C1
I then used the same USB flash drive to create a Fedora 32 Live Image on
it. After this, the USB volume was called
/run/media/awood/Fedora-WS-Live-32-1-6
How do I restore the contents of the USB flash drive so that it has the
same contents as the /run/media/awood/7160-75C1 ??
Note that I also have a back-up of my hard disk using Back-ups
(Duplicity) and I don't to restore that - only the USB flash drive which
has now changed it's name. The restore should also restore the whole
contents of the USB drive and not a single file or directory. It's the
data part of the USB which I want to restore - I'm not concerned about
the partitions which allow it to boot. Hope that makes sense?
The Gnome front end (on Fedora 31) for Back-ups doesn't have the options
to change the names of the volumes on restore - it has to have the same
name on back-up as restore. I checked the online manual for Duplicity
but there's very few examples and so it's not particularly helpful!
Thank-you,
Andrew, Oxford

today's f32 update hung on restorecon
by Neal Becker
Running update today appeared to hang on restorecon, which was triggered by
an update
to selinux-policy-targeted IIRC (can't seem to find the log).
After running >10minutes (system has SSD and shouldn't take long) I did
kill -KILL <pid> to it.
On reboot everything seems OK.
Thoughts?

What happened to k3b-extras-freeworld?
by Robert Moskowitz
I jumped from F30 to F32 (I tend to skip releases). In F30 I had
k3b-extras-freeworld in rpmfusion free.
It is not there in F32.
Has all that functionality been rolled into K3b?
