by jharbold@comcast.net
After upgrading from Fedora 24 to Fedora 25 i found I couldn't login to my home directory. What I could do was login as root. I have a Hewlett-Packard HP Pavilion dv2700 Notebook PC/30CD, BIOS F.2A 03/25/2008
Has anybody had this same problem?

Laptop finger scanner no longer activated after upgrading to F25
by Sam Varshavchik
After upgrading to Fedora 25, the fingerprint reader no longer gets
activated.
The laptop boots to lightdm, which merely prompts for my password, without
activating the fingerprint reader.
Additionally, starting virt-manager to access my virtual machines no longer
activates the fingerprint reader either, but only prompts for the password.
I reran fprintd-enroll without any issues. fprintd-enroll activated the
fingerprint reader, and did its usual thing. But the fingerprint scanner is
still not being used for authentication.

Ktorrent problem
by JD
FYI.
Quiting ktorrent does not cause ktorrent to exit.
After I quit, I run ps -ef | grep ktorrent
and it is still running long after I quit.

Amazing!
by Tom Horsley
For the first time in years, I can ssh in as root
on fedora 25 without having to modify the sshd_config
to allow it. What happened? Did the security
geeks lose a bet or something?

24 -> 25 requirements
by Frank Elsner
Hallo,
fully updated F24 system.
dnf system-upgrade download --refresh --releasever=25
gives
package rpm-python-4.13.0-1.fc24.i686 requires rpm = 4.13.0-1.fc24, but none of the providers can be install.
package rpm-python3-4.13.0-1.fc24.i686 requires rpm = 4.13.0-1.fc24, but none of the providers can be instald
(try to add '--allowerasing' to command line to replace conflicting packages)
But
$ rpm -q rpm
rpm-4.13.0-1.fc24.i686
If I read correctly the requirement is fulfilled.
Is it save to use '--allowerasing'?

Should have been working already. I explicitly disable root login after install for SSH

grub recovery
by Peter Lesterhuis
Hi,
After a Windows update my (dual boot) system won't boot into fedora anymore.
Somehow the grub bootloader doesn' t start.
After booting this is what I see:
Minimal Bash-like line editing is supported. For the first word TAB lists possible command completions. Anywhere else TAB lists possible device or file completions.
grub>_
When I issue the command "exit" the Windows bootloader pops up.
I googled on this subject, but found many completely different answers.
I would appreciate any suggestion. How can I recover my system?
