Brother HL-L2340DW -
by Bob Goodwin
Has anyone installed an HL-L2340DW printer? If so I am curious to know
what driver you used? I prefer installing via CUPS but find no driver in
the HL2300 series. Brother apparently has none that I can find.
It prints from our wireless LAN using the CUPS driver for the HL-2170W
but I am not certain that is the best choice. This is a Fedora-21/64bit
Linux/XFCE updated computer if that matters.
Any suggestions appreciated,
Bob

Installing gnuchess/xboard messes up menu fonts in xmms
by Jim Lewis
Note: This is an extremely low priority item.
I first noticed this all the way back in Fedora 14. Here are the steps to
reproduce:
- Install xmms and its related files.
- Run it and open the pulldown menu. The fonts will look fine. Close xmms.
- Now install gnuchess/xboard (yum -y install gnuchess xboard)
- (This step may be optional) Play a game.
- Run xmms again and open the menu. The fonts are now little boxes.
Is this a bug or have I been doing something wrong all this time? I
realize that xmms is from Fusion, is that the problem? I can fix it by
running "yum -y install xorg-x11-font*". I really did not expect this
issue to still be around after all this time. Note that I tried to find
some info on the net about this first but didn't come across anything
relevant.

router anomoly
by Geoffrey Leach
I've just replaced a Netgear WNR1000v3 router with an AC1900 R7000. The install went without a hitch, and wireless communication with another system (running Fedora 21) works fine. However, I can't connect with a system running Fedora 19: ssh_exchange_identification: read: Connection reset by peer
The F19 system connects to the internet (through said router) works fine, as does a ping between the two systems. hosts.allow and hosts.deny are both empty.
Any suggestions as to what I've missed?
Thanks.

What plugin you use?
It seems "NPAPI plugin for libvlc - gtk version" (npapi-vlc-gtk) need to download the whole video to begin playback.
Is there any better in this respect?

Gnome-3 workspace moves
by Greg Woods
In F20, I used to be able to right click the title bar of a window, and
select which workspace I wanted to move it to. Now in F21 all I get is the
option to "Move to Workspace Down" or "Move to Workspace Up". This is a big
loss when I have 12 named workspaces. Is there any way to recover the
option to move a window to any existing workspace?
Thanks,

rpm -V - verifying packages
by Robin Laing
Hello,
I don't know if I found a bug with upgrade or if there is a strange
issue with rpm.
I have upgraded from F19 to F21 on a machine. The upgrade worked quite
well.
Due to the nVidia driver changes, I installed the nVidia driver from
nVidia instead of the normal rpmfusion as the 340 driver was not
available. Today I decided to give the latest Nouveau driver a try but
knowing that the nVidia install can and will change files, I decided to
check my machine with rpm -Va > rpm_verify.txt
To my shock, many files came back with
S.?......
for the verification response. When I say many, the line count is 705
files.
I did rebuild the database after the upgrade but there seems to be some
issue.
I have been going through the packages that I can and doing yum
reinstall to clean them up.
The machine is running well so I am not sure where the issue is coming from.
Should I be submitting a bug report? Under what package?
I will only be going back to the nVidia driver if I cannot get Steam
working.

error creating volume in qemu gluster storage pool
by Glenn Holmer
I want to create a kvm/qemu VM on gluster (two servers, one brick on
each, replicated). Fedora 21, gluster 3.5.3.
I can create a gluster storage pool from a third machine (also Fedora
21) using virt-manager. But when creating a new volume in the pool
during the creation of a VM, I get "Libvirt version does not support
storage cloning".
What does it mean?

Moving old Thunderbird and Firefox in to new setup
by Mickey
Fedora 20 / KDE
Moving old setting of Thunderbird and Firefox into a new setup of Fedora
20 KDE.
Thunderbird: In new setup of thunderbird Send contents of the Mail
folder to Trash Can.
Thunderbird: Take contents of Old Thunderbird Mail folder , Copy and
Drag into the new Mail Folder.
Also move Abook from Old to New setup.
Is this correct ?
Firefox: Send places.sqlite in new Setup to Trash Can, Copy From old
Firefox the places.sqlite and Drag into New
Firefox Setup. For the Bookmarks.
Is this Correct ?
Well none of that is working in the User Setup of Fedora 20 / KDE

what is the process number of a "running application" ?
by Angelo Moreschini
Hi,
I would like to know the process number of an application that actually is
running (Netbeans in my case), with the purpose to kill it (when is froze).
But am am not able to know this process number..
- In the window of gnome-system-monitor the name "netbeans" isn't.
- The command line : "ps aux | grep netbeans", give me a full page of
references..
Could I know a simple way to have this information ?
Thank you
Regards
Angelo
