cpanspec decided that it is noarch.
moving to %{perl_vendorarch}/*
gives:

I am confuse:
cpanspec (or rpmbuild) installed the files in
/home/pdupre/rpmbuild/BUILDROOT/perl-PDL-LAPACK-0.12-1.fc18.x86_64/usr/lib64/perl5/vendor_perl
while there are expected in
/home/pdupre/rpmbuild/BUILDROOT/perl-PDL-LAPACK-0.12-1.fc18.x86_64/usr/share/perl5/vendor_perl
This is my understanding.
Checking around
rpm installed PDL in /usr/lib64/perl5/vendor_perl/PDL (perl-PDL-2.4.10-4.fc18.x86_64)
which make some sense to me!!
Hence, I think that I need to modify the .spec file to tell to find the file in
/home/pdupre/rpmbuild/BUILDROOT/perl-PDL-LAPACK-0.12-1.fc18.x86_64/usr/lib64/perl5/vendor_perl
Thank.

Re: rpmbuild
by Patrick Dupre
I guess that I need to say that my file are in:
/home/pdupre/rpmbuild/BUILDROOT/perl-PDL-LAPACK-0.12-1.fc18.x86_64/usr/lib64/perl5/vendor_perl/
and not in
/home/pdupre/rpmbuild/BUILDROOT/perl-PDL-LAPACK-0.12-1.fc18.x86_64/usr/share/perl5/vendor_perl/
given by %{perl_vendorlib}/
What is the right variable?
%{perl_sitelib}/*
is:
/home/pdupre/rpmbuild/BUILDROOT/perl-PDL-LAPACK-0.12-1.fc18.x86_64/usr/local/share/perl5/*

I tried
%/usr/local/lib64/perl5/*
but then I get:
RPM build errors:
File must begin with "/": %/usr/local/lib64/perl5/*
Probably I need a variable for this directory like perl_???lib ?

Special thanks to Fedora developers, this list, and the moderators...
by linuxnutster@videotron.ca
I'm sitting here sipping coffee and feeling sentimental. I feel like
sharing a few of those sentiments:
1) Thank you to all the fedora/linux developers who contribute all their
time and energy for FREE. It's a great OS and it's such a joy with which
to work. It is also brainfood, especially to those of us who are
clueless newbies. Your time and efforts are greatly appreciated...
2) Thank you to this list for all the free help. This list is an
excellent "security blanket" for those of us who are less capable...
3) Thanks to the moderators, who have the thankless task of enduring
crap from all sides. Many of us realize that you're frequently caught in
the middle and are frequently in no-win situations and must endure
insults, whining, etc..

Of course, there is not /home/pdupre/rpmbuild/BUILDROOT/perl-PDL-LAPACK-0.12-1.fc18.x86_64/usr/share/perl5
But where are the files?
Commenting %{perl_vendorlib}/*
gives:
Requires(rpmlib): rpmlib(CompressedFileNames) <= 3.0.4-1 rpmlib(FileDigests) <= 4.6.0-1 rpmlib(PayloadFilesHavePrefix) <= 4.0-1
Checking for unpackaged file(s): /usr/lib/rpm/check-files /home/pdupre/rpmbuild/BUILDROOT/perl-PDL-LAPACK-0.12-1.fc18.x86_64

Is it because perl-PDL if from a rpm package?
but there is not perl-PDL-LAPACK rpm package. It is why I am trying to build one!!

Hello,
I alreasy ask about this issue, ut I did not get any feedback.
Was my post not clear?
I tried to build a rpm package form a source file PDL-LAPACK-0.12.tar.gz.

cups
by Richard Vickery
I have to take a moment and shout out KUDOS to whomever it was / is
that is working on cups! Although, by necessity, I and others who have
been around a while know how to work with the commands, having the
machine do it for the user makes it so much more convenient,
especially if / when the North Americans move away from those flaky
other OS's.
Out of curiosity, does our team develop with cups, or are they a
separate entity - for lack of a better word - altogether?

RPM packaging: systemd service files
by Ananda Samaddar
Hello all,
I'm attempting to package Kwakd for Fedora. I'm pretty new to rpm
packaging but have already managed to build and package some simple
stuff.
I can get kwakd to build and package properly apart from one thing.
The systemd service file needs to be copied to the appropriate
directory and it doesn't seem to be working. Here are the relevant
parts of the spec file:
%install
make install DESTDIR=$RPM_BUILD_ROOT
cp %{name}.service %{_unitdir}
%files
%doc README NEWS ChangeLog COPYING AUTHORS TODO
%{_bindir}/%{name}
%{_mandir}/man1/%{name}.1.gz
%{_unitdir}/%{name}.service
The error I get is this:
+ cp kwakd.service /usr/lib/systemd/system
cp: cannot create regular file '/usr/lib/systemd/system/kwakd.service':
Permission denied error: Bad exit status from /var/tmp/rpm-tmp.vQB9sv
(%install)
What am I doing wrong? If this is the wrong mailing list then please
point me to the correct one if you can too!
thanks,
Ananda Samaddar
