Maybe OT....but?
by Roger
Apologies for my confusion in this request.
The only link to Fedora 19 is that I use it exclusively for all my work.
I have need to create a small dedicated web page newsletter with a
number of plain text areas that may contain 50 - 1000 words.
The contributor would copy and paste plain text layed out in sentences
and paragraphs with appropriate markups like <i> or <b>. Quotations
where included in the text passage would be delimited by <i>.
The fields data will be auto formatted by Rails/html5/css3 when
displayed as web page/s in blocks of information may be 2 or 3 columns
and on A4 pages when printed.
The field data will be in a postgresql database so have been looking at
Postgres Documentation chapter 12 Full text search which answers part of
the problem of searching through text but I do not understand how to
generate an automatic search using words or brief sentences stored in
pre established tables.
Or how to get automatic scanning of a block of text as soon as it is pasted.
I read 12.6 Dictionaries but cannot work out how to use this info.
I read a little on SOLR but am uncertain how it could help.
Web page display times are not critical, does not have to be instant.
Has anyone seen or done something like this before and can point me in a
direction.
Thanks in anticipation
Roger

F19 did not install boot loader
by Vinny Onelli
Hello,
I installed F19 on my HP envy dv7 notebook with windows 8, the pc has
1GB HD and 12 GB of memory, on reboot windows 8 came up but no sign of
F19. Is there way to install the boot loader without me try to reinstall
again? Should F19 work with win 8?
Thank you.

unaccessability
by Richard Vickery
Is / was a rather political decision to make BitchX unavailable through
this app-market / Software GUI thing? Since having to yum install it, I am
beginning to have a negative feeling toward the app market idea; the
thought being: what else is being left out?

Linux Tablet Question?
by Michael D. Setzer II
I have a Pengpod 1000 that runs both Andriod and Linux from a 32G SD
card. The Andriod system works great, but the Linux with a virtual keyboard
was very difficult to use, later got an usb keyboard and was an improvement,
but since I mainly use Fedora was not happy with the distro that was
included. I was looking at getting they newer 1040 which was going to have a
quad core system and some other enhancements, but there funding project
didn't meet the goal, so money was returned. They had done testing with a
number of Linux versions, but never heard of a Fedora version? Anyone
know of a tablet that works well with Linux, and with a Fedora release? Have
a number of notebooks that have no real issues with the Fedora 19, but is
linux just not interested in tablets? Or are tablets not interested in Linux?
Liked the ideal of a dual boot system with the Pengpod, but looks like that
isn't going to be an option for further development.
Thanks.

memory stick not recognized
by Geoffrey Leach
I have a Sony 128MB memory stick. When inserted, Fedora 19 does not recognize it -- lsblk does not show it, dmesg reports nothing. It's writable by Windows 7, which reports the device as "JMCR MS SCSI Disk Device"
Any thoughts on how to access the stick under Fedora?
Thanks.

NVidia driver installation under UEFI+CSM mode
by WangWentao
I got a HP dv4 5306tx laptop with the UEFI+CSM mode enabled, and succeeded in installation of fedora 18 i686.
However, I failed to install nvidia driver. After I installed NVIDIA-Linux-x86-319.60.run(no error), the X cannot be started until I restore open source driver.
I have no idea about the exact reason for this. Does UEFI+CSM prohibit loading of Nvidia driver? AFAIK, the CSM mode is compatible with untrusted soft, and my fedora is not installed in UEFI mode.
Any advice will be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
