It it normal?
Is there an alternative to kbibtex?
Thank.

fedora vs. ubuntu minimal install
by Ranjan Maitra
Just wondering: why is the fedora minimal install iso (266 M) so much
larger than the ubuntu one (26 M)? Clearly, these are two different
distributions and I do not mean to imply that one is more preferable
than the other in this aspect, so I was just wondering.....
For the Fedora minimal install (I was referring to boot.iso) while for
the Ubuntu, I was referring to mini.iso. I suspect that the answer may
be that boot.iso can do far more than a minimal install, in which
case (just speculation), wouldn't it be useful to also have a minimal
install iso?
I have not used Ubuntu much: that is my wife's distribution. I have
stuck with Fedora from Day 1 even though it has become less stable
since the middle of Fedora 14. (Just my observations: I still prefer F
to U, though).
Many thanks and best wishes,
Ranjan

Cleaning /tmp
by Geoffrey Leach
Fedora (not just 16) leaves junk in /tmp. It's also using some of that
junk, for example keyring-PRgjGV/.
So what's the best way to reduce the clutter? Is there a service?

cant ping from behind proxy box
by Zoltan Szecsei
Hi,
Sorry - newbie to fedora, and google is driving me mad !
I've just setup up a F17alpha box, and am trying to ping the internet
from behind my Ubuntu proxy server, which also runs bind.
I have set GATEWAY in /etc/sysconfig/network
I have put nameserver 192.168.0.1 into /etc/resolv.conf
I have done a export http_proxy=http://192.168.0.1:3128
I have done a /etc/init.d/network restart
and I still cannot ping by IP nor by dnsalias name
but this all works from other ubuntu boxes, and of course from the
server machine itself.
I can also ping all the PCs on my internal network.
Please can someone tell me my deliberate mistake in this regard.
TIA,
Zoltan
