corrupted MAC error using scp
by Gerhard Magnus
I'm at my wits end with this problem:
A small LAN with three boxes and hardwired ethernet connections through
a router.
PuteF: server, running FC15 (x86) and LXDE
PuteB: running FC13 (386) and gnome
PuteD: running FC15 (386) and KDE
I can transfer files between PuteB and PuteD using scp without any
problems. Regardless of which machine the scp is initiated on, all file
transfers between PuteF and PuteB, and between PuteF and PuteD fail with
the error message "Corrupted MAC on input. Disconnecting: Packet
corrupt. lost connection." The time this takes to happen varies within a
few minutes.
Based my not getting this error for file transfers between PuteB and
PuteD (running FC13 and FC15, respectively) I assumed (1) the problem is
with PuteF or its connectivity, and (2) the problem does not involve
different versions of Fedora. Based on what I read on the Web about this
error I assumed the hardware was at fault. So I put in a new ethernet
card on PuteF and connected it to the router with a new cable. But I
still get the "Corrupted MAC" error.

Hi there,
You simply run the TCK for each package update? Or is it a more involved process, with auditing and etc?

Hi there,
Thanks for the quick replies.
And about OpenJDK6 packates included on Fedora, I guess they are also built using IcedTea. But are they certified?
And I guess correctly openjdk6/7 packages in Ubuntu and Debian are also built from IcedTea? Certification is the same for them or each linux distro has to make their own certification?

JDK 7 status and IcedTea
by Fernando Lozano
Hi there,
I saw messages on the archives stating that OpenJDK 7 would be the default
Java for Fedora, such as:
http://osdir.com/ml/fedora-devel-list/2011-08/msg01586.html
But the features page states that OpenJDK 6 will be the default, which
OpenJDK 7 as an optional preview:
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Features/Java7
Which is correct? There was any FESCo decision about this?
I also see that we have IcedTea 2.0. Will Fedora OpenJDK 7 be based on
IcedTea 2 or on java.net OpenJDK 7 sources?
And what about certification? Is there a TCK for Java 7? Will OpenJDK 7 on
Fedora be certified for Fedora 16 at release or at a later update?

hostbased ssh
by Judith Flo Gaya
Hello all,
I would like to know if someone in the list is using hostbased ssh.
I'm trying to set it up on my f14 machine and for some reason it does
not work.
openssh-5.5p1-21.fc14.2.x86_64
2.6.35.6-45.fc14.x86_64 #1 SMP
I made the changes on ssh_config adding
EnableSSHKeysign yes
Host *
HostbasedAuthentication yes
sshd_config
HostbasedAuthentication yes
I also created the shosts.equiv file and the ssh_known_host
I started the sshd in a different port and within the same machine I
tried to ssh to it and after a log of debug messages I see this:
debug3: mm_answer_keyallowed: key 0x7f41e0034730 is not allowed
and then the next auth protocol starts (in my case password).
I'm able to login using password with no problem, but for some reason
this key auth is not working.
Does someone have this configuration working on a f14 installation?
Can somebody help me? I'd really appreciate it.
Thanks a lot,
j

Re: F14 installed chromium, but it won't start [SOLVED]
by Jackson Byers
I used the same fix per Lancebxxx that cured a nonstarting
google-chrome, ~1 month ago
for chromium these 2 commands worked:
[root@f14 ~]# semanage fcontext -a -s system_u -t usr_t
/usr/lib/chromium-browser/chrome-sandbox
[root@f14 ~]# restorecon -v /usr/lib/chromium-browser/chrome-sandbox
restorecon reset /usr/lib/chromium-browser/chrome-sandbox context
system_u:object_r:chrome_sandbox_exec_t:s0->system_u:object_r:usr_t:s0
[root@f14 ~]#
I went to chromium because I was experiencing other difficulties
with chrome, system hanging....

Fedora 16 grub2-mkconfig
by Nicolae Ghimbovschi
Hello,
I need help with a GRUB2 issue.
Yesterday I did a preupgrade from F15 to F16.
I've added a new custom menu entry for grub in /etc/grub.d/40_custom
After running grub2-mkconfig -o /boot/grub2/grub.cfg, I saw that
/boot/grub2/grub.cfg was not updated.
grub2-mkconfig -o /boot/grub2/grub.cfg
Generating grub.cfg ...
Found linux image: /boot/vmlinuz-3.1.0-5.fc16.x86_64
Found initrd image: /boot/initramfs-3.1.0-5.fc16.x86_64.img
No volume groups found
Found Windows 7 (loader) on /dev/sda1
Found Mac OS X on /dev/sda3
Instead /boot/grub2/grub.cfg.new was created, and it did not contain
my custom menu entry.
What am I doing wrong ? Am I missing a step ?
Below you can see the contents of the following files:
/boot/grub2/grub.cfg, /boot/grub2/grub.cfg.new and
/etc/grub.d/40_custom
cat /etc/grub.d/40_custom
#!/bin/sh
exec tail -n +3 $0
# This file provides an easy way to add custom menu entries. Simply type the
# menu entries you want to add after this comment. Be careful not to change
# the 'exec tail' line above.
