Fedora Logs out straight after Log in is complete
by Rishi Patel
Hello everyone,
New to using linux and everything; I was just getting into the flow of
things, had everything set up like I want it, and then I went to add
foxyTunes to firefox so I could control Amarok and the system randomly
logged out and displayed the log in page!
So i logged back in, and everything started to load up again, and as soon as
it was done, it logged out again!
I have rebooted, tried KDE failsafe mode, as well as Default, but to no
avail. Failsafe mode brings up the white terminal box. I can however log
into root, which is how I am posting this message.
Could anyone offer any help with this?
Thank you.

Trying to get eagle pcb software installed on F13 x64
by Mick M.
Hi;
I am getting into the arduino world.
There is a company called seeeduino that will do pcb's for you.
This is all new to me, I make my own pcb;s the old way.
Anyway I tried to install the eagle package:
http://www.cadsoft.de/download.htm
I get:
[root@localhost EAGLE-TEST]# bash ./eagle-lin-5.10.0.run
/tmp/eagle-setup.7048/eagle-5.10.0/bin/eagle: error while loading shared libraries: libssl.so.0.9.8: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
I tried it as 'mick' then as 'root' same.
So I tried to install the dependency:
[root@localhost EAGLE-TEST]# yum install libssl.so.0.9.8
Loaded plugins: fastestmirror, presto, refresh-packagekit

F12: gdm, avahi-daemon, HAL, & ntpd fails
by Dan Thurman
Geez... everything was working find when I installed F12 but
perhaps the latest update blew everything out of the water!
My gdm fails to bring up X11 and falls out.
I am however able to get into F2 and log in as root.
Also, I noticed during boot up, the following also fails
to start:
avahi daemon
HAL daemon
ntp daemon
I then proceeded to update once more and there is nothing
more to update.
So, what do I need to do at this point to recover gdm?
Thanks-
Dan

F13 has reached "it rocks" status !
by linux guy
Just a quick note to say that F13 now rocks ! It works really, really
well. Very fast, solid and slick.
I had problems with Evolution and Firefox when I first installed.
Crashing like crazy. Updates fixed both of those problems.
I was having problems booting. That too appears to be fixed.
Keep up the good work, people.

Re: Autocorrection in OOo 3.1.1 and shortcut for navigating in Firefox when zoomed in
by Antonio Olivares
First off, Red Hat isn't asking thousands of dollars from companies that are using Linux as a word processor. The entitlement for Red Hat Enterprise Linux Desktop is like $320/year or so. If you're paying the "thousands of dollars per year" on your RHEL entitlement, then you're not running OpenOffice.org Writer on it.
Secondly, Red Hat doesn't charge anything at all (nor could they) for Fedora, which is what you're using -- the free consumer product. Not only are you using a free product, you're using an old version of it.
Facts are never trolling, but attitude is. When you march in here and sort of turn up your nose, snort, and act all disgusted that your free product doesn't offer the feature you want and make noise like everyone who thinks it's great anyway is an idiot, then that's trolling. If you think this is going to garner sympathy for your cause you are, as you imply, daydreaming.

Amen!!! Halelluyah!!! This guy has to know that if you compare Fast Food places to Operating Systems, Fedora is "not like Burger King" :)
Why?
At Burger King, you could get it your way :), but with Fedora you get it there way or you don't get the damn thing :)
Some kind people have offered you solutions, you don't like them. You want for Fedora to do it your way, but Fedora is "not Burger King"
You have been told, (download Openoffice.org rpms) and install them, but you would need to remove OpenOffice.org from Fedora and then install them via rpm or yum localinstall OpenOffice.org-3.2.1-x????.rpm
Now, please stop your whining and complaining. I don't know why, but this does not add anything valuable to Fedora users.

Antonio

Thunderbird Fonts
by Kevin Cummings
I know how to change the font size for the message pane in Thunderbird
(^-/^+). What I'd like to do is reduce the font size in the folders
pane (so that I can see more folders in the list). I looked through the
about:config and nothing jumped out at me. Is this something I can
configure (and if not, why not)?

Fedora 13 installation
by Vincent
Hello,
I installed f13 on Dell dimension 8300 (with two HD 120GB for windows
end 320GB for Fedora) several time with 32 bit iso file downloaded from
3 different place bit torrent, the iso file to install on dvd, and
another side 32 bit 3.1GB.
The first one from bit torrent on reboot display error 17 cannot mount
selected partition pressing enter shows the following line:
Fedora (2.6.33.3-85.fc13.i686.PAE pressing enter here goes right back
to error 17.
The second and the third on reboot the cursor moves to upper left corner
the screen and stays there blinking forever.
By the way on this machine f10,f11,f12 all work fine.
I appreciate very much if some body can help,
