Same thing happened here. Already seen in various machines, i386 and
x86_64.
The keyboards were configured during Fedora 10 installation and no
manual configuration in Xorg or GNOME. Everything was working fine until
last update. I guess the affecting updates were
xorg-x11-server-Xorg-1.5.3-13.fc10 or
xorg-x11-server-common-1.5.3-13.fc10.
Only affects the keyboard settings in the graphical mode (GNOME in my
case). Text mode still fine.

F10, keyboard screen switching doesn't work
by Gene Heskett
Greetings;
When I was running F8, there were many things available on my keyboard, such
as the volume & mute control buttons on this logitech wireless keyboard
actually worked, and I could switch screens with something like the alt+ (or
ctl+ I forget which) F# key.
This stuff no longer works on F10, so apps that use the whole screen like
mythtv have to be stopped if the rest of the machine is to be usable. How
can these formerly very useful functions be restored for F10?

gconf
by Patrick Dupre
Hello,
After an update from fc7 to fc10, the first session of gnome
does not create properly the environment to start the gnome session.
In fact, after creating a user, and run startx for example, the
directory .gconf stays empty and this does not let start a gnome
environment.
How can I start the script to create this clear environment ?
Why is it not done it by default ?
The tools seems to be based on gconftool-2, how can I activate it ?
Thank.
Regards.

resetting user
by Jerry Ro
Hello,
Is there a way to reset user settings as root for the GUI in Fedora 9? What
happened is that I added a new language to a certain user settings in admin
Keyboard settings, and that completely ruined his log-in. I cannot log-in
using that user anymore - when I enter the (correct) password, Fedora looks
as if it is going to load the GUI, and then goes back to the login. I can
only login as root. If you can tell me what file includes keyboard settings,
maybe I could change it. I couldn't find it in the user's home directory.
Any ideas?
Thanks

System Sound Volume Control on F10
by Christopher A Williams
In the last couple of days, I've had a strange thing happen with sounds
on my system. Volume for all of the normal system sound events (logon,
logoff, etc.) has suddenly become very low - almost not audible at all.
Yet, sounds from other applications are quite normal. So things like
Pidgin, flash video, music files, etc., are just fine.
Yet, I can't seem to find a volume control for the system sounds. I have
other user accounts set up on the system (this is the family PC) and
they have no sound issues at all - system or otherwise. Am I just
missing something that, if it were a snake, would have bitten me?
Cheers,
Chris

nvidia problems
by Bob Schmidt
Hi All,
New to the list, I have used linux before. Here is my problem, yesterday
I installed fedora 10 on my computer and installed the correct nvidia
drivers and it worked great. I realized that I needed a bigger hard
drive so I installed a new hard drive and installed fedora 10 again.
Using the exact same procedure as I used yesterday. But today it does
not work, here is the error I receive:

Floppy Access
by Gorden Smith
Fedora 10 64 bit
AMD Athlon 64 processor
Gnome desktop
I can not get the floppy drive to mount. Each time I try after boot up I get a message to say "Can not mount loction, can not mount file." When I click on the Floppy Icon under Computer. The floppy will drives starts to make noises but then nothing.
I get the same response on two machines. I have tried new floppy drives. I can not mount the drive if I use the icon under place/remiovable Media/floppy or the file browser under System tools.
There is no folder for the floppy generated in the Media or MNT folders.
I seem to be able to mount the floppy when I use Fstab but I would like to get the automatice system working. Sometimes I get the the CD and or memoy stick not mounting with a message the saem as for the floppy "unable to mount location".
I ahev also had a message re HAL come up when trying to mount.
Does anyone know what is wrong and how to fix it. I do not know anthing about who the automatic mount system works , what files it uses and what configuration files it uses, or for that matter where HAL fits in.
Gorden
