gcc-4.3 c++ question
by Neal Becker
On upgrading from gcc-4.1.2 to gcc-4.3, this (stripped down) code is now
rejected:
#include <vector>
#include <iostream>
template<typename T, template <typename A> class CONT=std::vector>
class Ring {
};
template<typename Cont>
inline std::ostream& operator<<(std::ostream& os, const Ring<Cont>& r) {
os << '[';
os << ']';
return os;
}
g++ -c test1.cc
test1.cc:11: error: type/value mismatch at argument 2 in template parameter
list for template<class T, template<class A> class CONT> class Ring
test1.cc:11: error: expected a template of type template<class A> class
CONT , got template<class _Tp, class _Alloc> class std::vector
What is a reasonable way to fix this? The problem is that the 2nd parameter
says
template<typename A> class CONT, which doesn't match std::vector because it
has an _optional_ 2nd parameter (class _Alloc).
I don't want to only match class CONT with those having a 2nd parameter
(class _Alloc) - that is too restrictive.

Re: why is fedora/npviewer.bin crippling my system?
by samk@twinix.com
See Thread at: http://www.techienuggets.com/Detail?tx=29638 Posted on behalf of a User
I don't think that will help... I am running the i386 system and i have the same problem.
Regards,
Les H
In Response To:
it's always been bad but now it's gotten worse -- over the last few
weeks, the combination of firefox and npviewer.bin is just crushing my
machine in terms of response.
"top" shows that the combo of those two programs is regularly
chewing up from 100 to 150 per cent of my CPU (if not more). is this
normal? is this what others are seeing? because if firefox 3 turns
out to be the same kind of processor hog, it's going to be time to
dump firefox for good.

Integrated bluetooth on Toshiba laptop wont work
by Zlatko
Hello to everybody, and greetings from Croatia (Europe)...
I need help...
Model of laptop: Toshiba Satellite P200-10C
My integrated bluetooth wont work, unless I do the following:
1. I start laptop with Windows Vista
2. I restart from Vista to Fedora
Each time I do this, bluetooth works fine. But, if I turn off computer,
and start it again directly to Fedora, bluetooth wont work, and system
wont recognize any bluetooth device.
I have described this problem on Fedora forum, also, but nobody answered
my question so far, even I have posted that post month ago.
Here is the link to that post:
http://forums.fedoraforum.org/forum/showthread.php?t=172988
If anybody knows how to handle this problem, I'll be very appreciated...
Also, my combination of pressing Fn + (F1-F9) wont work either...
Thanks

installing Fedora 9 on a laptop...
by Mike Chalmers
I am am going to install F9, when it comes out, on a Toshiba Satellite
U205-S5034. I had a few questions that I was hoping y'all could
answer.
- Will Fedora automatically install drivers for the touchpad at the
beginning of the installation so that I can use it as a mouse during
the installation?
- Should the touchpad work fine?
- Do I need to do anything about installing wireless drivers so that I
can get internet access, or will Fedora take care of this for me?
- Does Fedora work with the Toshiba Satellite U205-S5034 good?
- With Fedora 9 can I resize my Windows NTFS partition during the
Fedora installation?
Many Thanks,

Ansi escape sequences...
by Dan Thurman
I am wondering if the ansi esacpe sequence are broken?
I have tried to get a blinking text to work and it does not.
I tried:
> echo "\e[5;31mHello World"
and the red "Hello World" does not blink.
Am I doing something wrong or has something changed?
Thanks!
Dan

Howto get an automatic Wifi connection?
by Patrick Lists
Hi all,
I have a PC with F8 & a usb wifi dongle and I would like to configure
the PC that when it boots it will automagically negotiate a WPA2/PSK
802.11g link with my Access Point and get an IP address from the DHCP
server behind the AP.
Since the PC boots into runlevel 3 I can not use NetworkManager. Instead
I have the network service enabled. The kernel module for the wifi
dongle autoloads and the dongle is recognized, active and ready to go to
work.
Now how do I configure this WPA2/PSK link to my AP?
Your feedback is most appreciated.
Thanks,
Patrick

Natilus? displays home directory folders
by Geoffrey Leach
When I booted F8/Gnome today, my desktop was littered with icons for
the folders and files from my home directory. My installation is pretty
much vanilla with regard to the desktop; previously all that was
displayed was device icons. I am not aware of having changed any
preferences.
As I boot every am, I know what was installed yesterday.

Re: [Fedora] Re: Remote Desktop on FC8
by Tom Horsley
>Because the remote machine doesn't have X nor an X-client on it.

I admit I'm mystified as to where a desktop could come from
without X. With no X, just ssh will get you a terminal
where you can do anything a machine without X can do.
If you really want remote administration of a headless
server with the ability to get to the BIOS and reboot
and wot-not, there is a hardware product you might
want to check out:

I have no experience with them, but it sure looks like
a nifty product.

This problem doesn't occur with the stock radeon drivers in use. I've tried passing noacpi, noapictimer and
acpi_use_timer_override to the kernel without success in suppressing this problem. Thanks in advance for
any advice on this problem.
