Web based time sheet?
by thomas cameron
Does anyone have any real experience with any F/OSS web based time
sheet/time tracker software?
Basically I have a customer who runs a consulting-ish company. He needs
to be able to track employee hours per project.
I've Googled and I see several projects, so I have a bunch of leads. I
am looking for anyone who has real world experience with these things
though, so if you've used any please let me know.

automount ext2/ext3 with HAL
by Ian Malone
Hi,
I've got a USB hard disc here. It had NTFS on it, but
that seemed to be causing complaints when I tried to
move files over, so I reformatted it as ext3 (and
changed the partition to type 83). Now I've been
able to copy the files over fine.
However, whereas previously the NTFS partition got
mounted upon connection, the ext3 partition must be
manually mounted. I could simply add it to fstab, but
what magic would I do to cause the automount to
work properly for an ext3 partition?

New FC6 Kernels Break bcm4318 Wireless
by Rick Bilonick
I'm running Fedora Core 6 and have 3 kernels:
kernel-2.6.20-1.2962.fc6
kernel-2.6.22.1-32.fc6
kernel-2.6.22.2-42.fc6
Unfortunately, only the oldest (kernel-2.6.20-1.2962.fc6) works with
bcm4318 wireless card using ndiswrapper. (All earlier kernels worked
fine.)
Any ideas on how to find out what is going wrong and fix it?

simple ln question
by tony.chamberlain@lemko.com
I have a script that occasionally does something like this
ln file1 file2
that makes it so the contents of file1 are the same as of file2, and if you change the contents of 1, the other
changes accordingly.
I can slo do this
ln -s file1 files
which is somewhat similar, but of course works over file systems and file2 is really just a symbolic link to file1.
Anyway, sometimes I want to undo what I did, but I can't say
unlink file2
because that will remove file2. I just want it , so that the files are still the same but if I change one, the other will
not change (i.e., inodes are different but diff shows no differences). I can't see any flags for ln. Anyone have
any idea? I know it can be fudged like
sed -i 's/ / /g' file1
but this is kind of fudging, and it may not work on binary files.
another question. If you have a file FILE1 can you find everything that is linked
to it? say you have
ln -s /this/is/filesystem/1/FILE1 /filesystem/2/FILE2
given FILE1 can you find FILE2? It is pretty easy the other way around (readlink FILE2) but that does
not work for FILE1. Also if "ln" instead of "ln -s" you cannot do it.
I guess you could do ls -i /this/is/filesystem/1/FILE1, get the inum and then do a
find / -type f -inum x # Whatever the inum is
