Recursive diff?
by Ashley M. Kirchner
What's the best way to run diff against two folders, comparing every
single file in each one?
Basically we're trying to figure out what changes have been made
between a backup folder and a current one. They both contain folders
within folders and files within them.

Cannot select text for non-breaking
by Dotan Cohen
On OOo 2.3 on Ubuntu Feisty, I have a paragraph and it's title that I
need to keep together on a single page. I highlight it all, then
Format -> Paragraph -> Text Flow -> Options but the "do not split
paragraph" option is greyed out. How can I enable it?
Note: I just tried highlighting a single paragraph and instructing OOo
not to break it, and the option is still greyed out. Note that these
are short paragraphs, so they will most certainly fit on a page.
Also, if this information is online and I missed it, please RTFM me
with a link. I feel especially dependent upon this mailing list the
past week, and I'm trying to become more independent. Thanks in
advance.

Problem playing/ripping audio CDs in F7
by Mike Leahy
Hello list,
I'm not unfamiliar to playing and/or ripping audio CDs in Linux. I have
done this a number of times using GRip and KAudioCreator on Fedora 6/7,
with both my desktop and laptop. However, I just put one into my
machine today and found that I can no longer play audio CDs on either of
my machines running Fedora 7. At first I thought it was a problem with
the CD, but I have the same problem with other CDs that I have
successfully ripped before.
If I look at the Audio CD in Konqueror, it seems that the file structure
is already listed as a series of folders (CDA, Full CD, Information,
MP3, and Ogg Vorbis), with the tracks identified as wav files, or linked
as different file types in various sub folders. I've never noticed this
before - could it be a source of the problem? I can copy the files from
the 'MP3' folder in Konqueror, and it seems to be able to encode them
that way, but would be preventing all other applications that use CDs
from working?
Thanks for any suggestions,
Mike

Notes 8 Client on F7 (or F8)
by Christopher A. Williams
Has anyone found the set of magic incantations that will enable you to
install Lotus Notes 8.0 on F7 (or F8T3)?
I've had nothing but nightmarish troubles getting any of it to work. All
of my on-line searches of archives have also turned up nothing.
Cheers,
Chris

F8 & Freshrpms nvidia-x11-drv-96xx problem
by Richard Shaw
I just updated my FC6 server to F8 (replaced not upgraded) and installed
the nvidia-x11-drv-96xx driver from Freshrpms which has always worked
before and is working right now on my desktop. Both systems are running
the 64bit version of Fedora. Below is the make.log file from DKMS:
> DKMS make.log for nvidia-1.0.9639-1 for kernel 2.6.23.1-49.fc8 (x86_64)
> Sat Dec 1 09:30:13 GMT-6 2007

> make CC=cc KBUILD_VERBOSE=1 -C /lib/modules/2.6.23.1-49.fc8/build
> SUBDIRS=/var/lib/dkms/nvidia/1.0.9639-1/build modules
> test -e include/linux/autoconf.h -a -e include/config/auto.conf ||

> mkdir -p /var/lib/dkms/nvidia/1.0.9639-1/build/.tmp_versions

> cp /var/lib/dkms/nvidia/1.0.9639-1/build/nv-kernel.o
> /var/lib/dkms/nvidia/1.0.9639-1/build/nv-kernel.o
> cp: cannot stat `/var/lib/dkms/nvidia/1.0.9639-1/build/nv-kernel.o':

> make[3]: *** [/var/lib/dkms/nvidia/1.0.9639-1/build/nv-kernel.o] Error 1

> NVIDIA: left KBUILD.
> nvidia.ko failed to build!
> make[1]: *** [module] Error 1
> make: *** [module] Error 2
I've never looked at this file before so I don't know what I'm supposed
to see but the "cp" command looks funny as it appears to be trying to
copy a file onto itself. The module obviously fails to build and X fails
to run.
Thanks,
Richard

Not now
by Karl Larsen
Someone last night got on my setup for this login and set it to send
no email to me. I turned on and there was no fedora list mail. Had to
work and just fixed the problem. Now things are good again. Sure hope
the person who did this will stop. It is no fun causing others problems.

Fedora-8 upgrade - waiting for Godot
by Timothy Murphy
The wiki page at
<http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Bugs/F8Common>
says, re the Upgrade Hang bug,
"New CD boot images (boot.iso) will be available
in the near future".
As the entry is not dated, it is not clear
when the "near future" will occur.
In any case, since it does not tell you
where this new CD boot image will appear
it is not very useful information.
