Can LVM1 read an LVM2 volume?
Date:
Fri, 31 Mar 2006 10:37:39 +0100
Hello all,
I would like to read my FC5 LVM disks, duak booted with
an old
(~RHEL3) system. If I try vgscan or pvscan on the RHEL 3 machine
there
is nothing visible.
Should I (can I ) remove the lvm layer from FC5?
Or would it be easier to graft lvm2 into RHEL 3?
Thanks,
Bill

FC5 kernel and spca5xx webcam driver
by Eric Tanguy
This driver http://mxhaard.free.fr/download.html worked very fine with
my hardware and fedora core 4. Now that i have fedora core 5 this driver
build fine, modprobe fine but when i try to use it (watching with
camstream for example) the system reboots. I can find no log about the
problem in /var/log/messages .
This driver support a lot of webcam.
What can we do for this ?
Thanks

How to install the kernel source
by Chethiya K Ranaweera
Hello,
I tried to install FC5 kernel source package so that I can recompile
the kernel. But when I used rpm -qa | grep kernel , I could not see
the kernel source. Then I used yum localinstall but it also failed.
Can someone tell me what I can do about it. Thanks

Thunderbird crashes, when adding lightning event to webdav
by Thomas Widhalm
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA1
Hi!
I started using Thunderbird with Lightning on Tao Linux 4 (=
Recompilations of RHAS4 sources) with a calender I synchronize via
webdav. This works without any problems.
Now I have some Fedora Core 5 workstations and want to use the same
calender. But everytime I add a calender event, Thunderbird closes
without any logentry or error message.
Did anyone of you have the same problem? Is there a solution?
I sent this to the fedora list, because the problem just appears on
Fedora boxes.
Thanks for your help,
Regards,
Thomas

Strange kernel version
by John Wendel
After a yum update, I'm running kernel "2.6.16-1.2083_FC6". The "FC6"
looks a little strange. Is this really OK?
Thanks,
John

FC5: Can I change keyboard shortcut ...
by Pavel Lisy
in Evolution?
There was <Ctrl-`> shortcut for "Email preview" in previous version of
Evolution. It was good because it's possible press by one hand only.
Now it was changed to <Ctrl-M> and I am disappointed with it.
Is possible to change it?
It seems that it is disabled in Evolution.

fc5: where's xterm?
by K. Richard Pixley
In previous versions of fedora, right clicking on my background called
up a menu in which my most frequently used command was selected: call
whatever my current xterm-like program might be - as set in application
preferences.
In fc5, not only is it absent from the handy menu, but I can't find it
in any of the menus. Could someone please tell me where to find the
xterm, (or gterm or whatever), command?

yum upgrade to FC5 64 bit e2fsprogs problem
by Matt M.
I am trying to upgrade from FC4 to FC5 and I am running into issues.
I am using the x86_64 version.
So far I have done this:
rpm -Uvh ftp://ftp.net.usf.edu/pub/fedora/linux/core/5/x86_64/os/Fedora/RPMS/fedor...
then
yum -y upgrade
Everything is downloaded, yum gets to the Transaction Test then I keep
getting the following error:
Transaction Check Error: file /usr/share/man/man8/blkid.8.gz from
install of e2fsprogs-1.38-12 conflicts with file from package
e2fsprogs-1.38-0.FC4.1
I am a novice at linux so if I have not provided enough info please let me know.
