Aha! This got it! I didn't realize that EACH virtual
host definition reset what the rest of the httpd.conf
file thought. I thought that was for each individual
host. I added index.php to each of the VirtualHost
definitions (of which my squirrelmail is NOT among
them) and it now works like a charm!
THANKS Alexander! and David, Paul, et.al. that helped
on this!

Kmail & LDAP Address completion (repost)
by Reuben D. Budiardja
Hello,
Anyone knows how to integrate the address completion in Kmail to search from
LDAP directory and use that for completion ?
I've setup Kaddressbook to look at LDAP directory, and I can search the LDAP
directory in Kaddressbook, but I cannot figure out how to tell KMail to use
the LDAP directory as its autocompletion resource. From KDE website, KMail is
supposed to support this.
I've tried: "Right click on the To: field in Kmail --> Edit Completion -->
move LDAP resource to the very top", yet KMail still won't autocomplete from
my LDAP directory.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Help with Fedora Core 3 Freezes when/if screen saver is on
by Roberto R. Heredia
Hello Dear Friends,
I am running Fedora Core 3 on an IBM. I was using Mandrake 10.0 and
everything was working fine. I am experiencing this problem:
1. My computer freezes if I leave it unattended for a while. I disabled
the screen saver, and still freezes. I have to turn it OFF/ON every time
the screen-saver is on. I have the suspicion that it is the X-server?
Thanks in advanced.

util-linux 2.12a-21 causes NFS mounts to fail
by Andre Costa
Hi all,
we have here at work a couple of workstations running FC3, and our main servers are still running RH8. Last apt-get upgrade (today) installed util-linux 2.12a-21, which instantly caused NFS mounts to RH8 servers to fail with:
Mar 31 14:40:52 xxx automount[12141]: >> mount to NFS server 'yyy' failed: server is down.
Mar 31 14:40:52 xxx automount[12141]: mount(nfs): nfs: mount failure yyy:/home/l on /nethome/l
No noticeable error messages on the servers' logs.
Downgrading util-linux to 2.12a-16 (or 2.12a-19) brought things back to normal.
Anyone else experiencing this? Changelog from 2.12a-16 to 2.12a-21 is:
* Fri Feb 25 2005 <SteveD(a)RedHat.com> 2.12a-20
- Changed nfsmount to only use reserve ports when necessary
(bz# 141773)
* Sat Dec 04 2004 Steve Dickson <SteveD(a)RedHat.com> 2.12a-19
- Corrected a buffer overflow problem with nfs mounts.
(bz# 141733)
* Mon Nov 29 2004 Steve Dickson <SteveD(a)RedHat.com>
- Made NFS mounts adhere to the IP protocol if specified on
command line as well as made NFS umounts adhere to the
current IP protocol. Fix #140016
TIA
Andre

Ide=nodma is "loosing too many ticks"
by Mark
I got the following problem after my FC3 install:
Losing too many ticks!
TSC cannot be used as a timesource.
Possible reasons for this are:
You're running with Speedstep,
You don't have DMA enabled for your hard disk (see hdparm),
Incorrect TSC synchronization on an SMP system (see dmesg).
Falling back to a sane timesource now.
I have ide=nodma in the boot parameters, since I was not able to complete the install with that parameter.
If I try to take this parameter out of the grub.conf, I get the below and the machine does not boot:
hdc: cdrom_pc_intr: The drive appears confused (ireason 0x02)
ide-cd: cmd 0x1e timed out
hdc: lost interupt
I also tried "ide0=dma ide1=nodma" with the same problem (CDROMs are hdc and hdd on ide1)
Then I tried "ide=nodma ide0=dma". It boots, but I dont know if it fixes the original problem...
Should I leave "ide=nodma" in and live with the first warning? Is this just a warning that can be ignored or is there something that
could actually go wrong if I use this as a production server?
I am surprised about this whole "ide=nodma" thing anyway. It seems that the only way to get Fedora installed on any of my machines
is to use "ide=nodma"as boot params. Sometimes I even seem to need "allowcddma". My machines are by no means special, just standard
IDE controllers with a bunch of IDE HDs and IDE cdrom... What is the best practise for this case?
Thanks,
MARK

Re: FC3 xorg.conf for Dell 5150 laptop with nVidia GeForce 5200 FX

Pierre,
Here is a link to my single monitor version of my xorg.conf:
http://www.medanalytics.com/xorg.conf.1
and here is one for my dual monitor (non-xinerama) set up, which is my
daily configuration. I have a Dell 1600x1200 20 inch external lcd panel
connected to my laptop:
http://www.medanalytics.com/xorg.conf.2
Note that in both, I have configuration options for using composite
extensions, which I do not use routinely, other than for testing. These
are commented out with "#".
The key is to modify the Modules section to either remove or comment out
the "Load dri" line.
In addition, the device section needs to be modified to replace the "nv"
Driver with "nvidia".
Finally, modify the Screen section to add, if needed, the "1600x1200"
resolution option for the Modes line.
Those are the key changes.

How to get nfs debugging information.
by akonstam@trinity.edu
We have 50 or so machines doing mounts of home directories from an nfs
server. But we are having problems with three machines that sometimes
can mount and sometimes can't. We get a mount authorized message but
no mount occurs.
I would like to know how to get more debugging information from the
nfs mounting process. Is the --debug all on rpc.mountd useful in this
regard? Is there something else we can do.
Let me say parenthetically that machines having trouble mounting are OS
X machines but this is a Fedora list so I don't request OS X help (but
it would be accepted). The focus of my question is how to get more
information for debugging problems with the nfs mount from the nfs
server?

Help need for fc3 installing on IBM Xseries 360
by Jin Baiqi
Hello, I installed fc3 on this 4-cpus machine and
found that it can boot with linux kernel with only one
cpu supported.
However, when I try to boot with SMP kernel, it keeps
rebooting. This machine has 4 cpus and 2 scsi hard
disks. This machine is supposed to support redhat
enterprise 7.2.
I will very appreciate you for any advice or possible
hints.
Jin
Jin Baiqi wrote:
> Can anybody tell me whether fc3 support 4-CPU

Yes. Basically, all you need to support multiple
processors is the SMP
support in the Linux kernel. And Fedora comes with
SMP-compiled kernels
available.
> Or how can I get around to use 4 CPUs efficiently?
Make sure you're using the SMP kernel: type uname -r
and check for the
letters "smp". Or look at /proc/cpuinfo and count the
processors.
