Joseph,
Did you ever manage to sort out your problem with nss_ldap on Fedora Core1 - I read the thread, but can't see if you actually managed to get your problem resolved.
I look forward to your response.

Jens

Hi,
I've noticed that good old 'diald' is not being included in any package
repository. Is it because there is another way of doing on-demand
dialing for a
PPP connection that I am not aware of?
On the same subject, can the standard PPP dialers included in FC1
restablish
the link if it goes down?
TIA
I have just upgraded to Fedora Core 1 (from RH 9) on my main PC (P4 2.4C on an Abit IS7-E). It appears to be running smoother than RH 9 did (compatibility with my sound card and apparently the SATA ports, though I don't use them so I'm not sure). I still, however, can't get the onboard NIC to be detected (so right now I'm in WinXP). Its a 3COM Gigabit chip, but I don't see that in the config files anywhere. Anyone got this one to work?

Hi,
I'm having some serious issues with USB on my FC1. Whenever I connect a USB device to my PC the machine hangs. I'm not sure at all what to do next?
Must I install some package that will enable USB support on FC1? Must I install drivers for the devices first? What can possibly cause this?
Please help. Just even a broad direction to take will be enough.
Regards & ThanX,
Jacques

Additional Info.
Found a site on the net that says that if I were to change the line from
if ((tty->count == 1) && (state->count != 1)) {
to
if (((tty->count.counter) == 1) && (state->count != 1)) {
It should compile fine... According to him, it's based/tested on FC1.

I tried it.. and it does not work.. Does anyone have any workaround for
this??
I've got Solaris NIS servers and now, Fedora NIS clients. Has anyone
been able to get direct automount maps to work with Linux, using autofs,
am-utils, etc.? Or do I have to, eeek, have separate maps for Linux?

I have an old Compaq Deskpro that I was easily able to install both
Fedora and RH 9 on. I have a much newer Deskpro EN but I can't get it to
boot from the cdrom. I've looked at the bios config but there is nothing
obvioius to change. I tried using an old RH 7 boot disc (came with the
CD's) but it can't seem to even find the cdrom drive. I also tried a
smart boot floppy. It sees the drive but I don't know how to get it to
cause a boot from cdrom.
Any suggestions?

Hi,
I have installed Fedora Core 1 on my laptop but the ACPI is not working. I
have edited the grub.conf to pass acpi=on as a boot option. However, there is
no /proc/acpi directory. The documentation does not say I need to do anything
else. Does anyone have any ideas what I need to do?
When I look in /proc I notice I still have /proc/apm. Do I need to disable apm
somehow. I've stopped apmd from running but that didn't help.
I know the laptop has ACPI because it is new and I had a custom kernel
compiled when I used RedHat 9 and managed to get it working. I could go
through all that hassle again with Fedora but I was under the impression this
isn't needed as ACPI is supported in Fedora.
Thanks in advance
Nicholas Allen
