php not working (blank screen)
by Paul_Lin
I have apache working in Fedora, but cannot get php to work. I have
edited the php.ini file to point to the proper directory, but all I ever
get when I run a php script in a browser is a blank screen. php
--version returns:
PHP 4.3.3 (cgi) (built: Oct 21 2003 09:51:55)
Copyright (c) 1997-2003 The PHP Group
Zend Engine v1.3.0, Copyright (c) 1998-2003 Zend Technologies
I hesitate to post my php.ini and httpd.conf files because of the
length, but let me know if I should.
Does anyone know what I am missing?
TIA

HH-perl config
by hemachandra.jayapal@wipro.com
Dear all,
I got a problem while i am configuring the perl and
Postgres in linux.
In the perl prg we use " use pg"
to configure this we go for directory, ( check-README),
there we run the scripts
1. perl makefile.
2. make
3. test make
4. make install
I got struck with an error in test make: here
is that:
PERL_DL_NONLAZY=1 /usr/bin/perl "-Iblib/lib" "-Iblib/arch" test.pl
Pg::conndefaults ........ ok
Pg::connectdb ........... not ok: could not connect to server: No such
file or directory
Is the server running locally and accepting
connections on Unix domain socket "/tmp/.s.PGSQL.5432"?
make: *** [test_dynamic] Error 255
please help me out .
thanks & regards

Does 2.4.23 include low latency patches?
by Andre Costa
Hi all,
don't know if this is the best place to ask this, but since there's RH
personnel monitoring this forum, thought it could work...
Does anyone know if latest stable kernel (2.4.23) include low latency
patches? I just downloaded it and tried 'make menuconfig', and no 'low
latency' option exists (as Fedora's customized kernel does).
TIA,
Andre

Well it was one of those essential apps that was missing from the release
(valid reasons or not) and it just had to be done. Although long term you
should be thinking of aide (or that other one I can't remember ... that's
got a name like a camel trader).
Note that the current release is tripwire-2.3.1-18.fdr.3.i386.rpm

How verbose you like your reports, is entirely up to you, but understand
that it isn't a good idea for this to be implemented as a default setting,
particularly for a security tool. I'll Leave it up to the individual.

Well in general, redirecting stderr to null means that if - e.g. - the app
crashes, you won't know why, and like I said, in the case of a security
app, that probably isn't a good idea. Yes tripwire is a bit repetitive in
its output, but ... well it's up to you really.

If you're just tinkering with a home system, then no ... not stupid, not
particularly useful either, but not stupid.
If it's a server or production system in a mission critical environment,
then ... well let's put it this way, I wouldn't do it.

Verifying archive integrity... All good.
Uncompressing ArmyOps 2.0.0 for GNU/Linux.......Extraction failed.

kernel 2.4.23 and graphical boot
by Hank Maxwell
is anyone else having problems getting the graphical boot to cooperate
with kernel 2.4.23?? i have an NVIDIA 4600ti and recompiled the driver
for it, and X and everything else works slick as anything but graphical
boot has croaked, i checked the grub kernel line and even reinstalled
the rhgb rpm, but still no go, it really doesn't make much difference to
me, it is an interesting puzzle however and will drive me nuts until i
figure out why it won't go.

glibc source rpm and nptl
by Rakesh Patel
I was attempting to rebuild glibc from the source rpm and noticed the
spec file does not
utilize nptl and does not specify it as an addon, but instead uses the
linuxthreads addon.
The Fedora Core 1 announcements indicate that NPTL is used (and the
kernel sources
do utilize NPTL). Is the the glibc spec file accurate? I used both the
original glibc src
rpm and the updated rpm [using the updated binary rpm] and both build
without NPTL support.
Is the spec file correct?
Thanks,
Rakesh Patel.

some error when install flash player
by 张立松
I download flashplayer for linux from Macromedia website.
the installer need a "browser path", i enter "/usr/lib/mozzila", but it's
invalid, i enter "/usr/lib/mozzila-1.4.1", it's valid.
after install success, i run the mozzila, nothing is found in "help -> about
plugins".
I think it maybe the path is wrong.
My Fedora installed by default settings.
