Hi,
I am using FC2 and trying to build Kaffe. It gives me the error "missing X support" while I run 'configure' before 'make'. Can somebody tell me how to install this component. Does this mean that I am missing only the source files for X? Because I can open X applications like Xterm. I looked for the directory X11 in /usr/includes, but it's not there. Also I couldn't find the file libXt.* in /usr/lib.
Can somebody please help soon.
Many thanks.

Package xorg-x11-devel
Also I couldn't find the file libXt.* in /usr/lib.
Try looking in /usr/X11R6/lib
Cheers, Paul.
Hi,
thanks for the reply. Is this package available in the FC2 package or do I need to get it separately. what steps do I follow to install it.

It's a standard FC2 package, on one of the CDs. However, there has been an update of it since FC2 was released; see http://fedoranews.org/updates/FEDORA-2004-198.shtml
If you have an un-updated system, just find the xorg-x11-devel-6.7.0-2.i386.rpm on your CDs (in a Fedora/RPMS directory) and use:
rpm -Uvh xorg-x11-devel-6.7.0-2.i386.rpm
to install it.
If you use some system like yum to keep your system updated (highly recommended), use that system to install the RPM.
Cheers, Paul.
Hi, thanks for the earlier reply. Now I'm getting another problem. It says "QTDIR must be defined" while running 'configure' for Kaffe. Does that mean I don't have Qt installed? I'm not sure. How can I check if I have Qt installed? In /usr/bin, I found only qtconfig and qtconfig2.
If this is indeed happening because I dont have the Qt package, how do I install it?
Thanks.

Install qt-devel.

Please read the documentation that comes with the source code of Kaffe. There you will find that ./configure accepts parameters. Read the help of configure and set the QTDIR accordingly.

Install qt-devel.
...and log out and log back in (or source /etc/profile.d/qt.sh).
