Hi Guys
I am stumped or I need to be informed. I have downloaded an alarm/timer application called cloxen
it swears about these deps -- see below
When I check my system I have got qt installed. What now?
I checked for an update on qt from fresh and livna and I have the latest available!
root@chadlap timers]# rpm -ivh cloxten-0.1.7-1.pa.i386.rpm error: Failed dependencies: libqt.so.2 is needed by cloxten-0.1.7-1.pa.i386 libqtintf-6.5-qt2.3.so is needed by cloxten-0.1.7-1.pa.i386 liblcms.so.1 is needed by cloxten-0.1.7-1.pa.i386

You have qt3 installed and not qt2. The app needs to be ported to qt3. It seems you also need lcms. rpm -qi lcms on my FC2 system shows http://kde-redhat.sf.net/ as the packager. On my FC3 system I compiled this myself.

you should not look for an update there, as qt3 is included with fedora core
root@chadlap timers]# rpm -ivh cloxten-0.1.7-1.pa.i386.rpm error: Failed dependencies: libqt.so.2 is needed by cloxten-0.1.7-1.pa.i386
that's old qt2
libqtintf-6.5-qt2.3.so is needed by cloxten-0.1.7-1.pa.i386 liblcms.so.1 is needed by cloxten-0.1.7-1.pa.i386
and that's littlecms -> pre-extras
better get the src.rpm and rebuild it - if it fails because it wants old qt2, see whether you find a qt2 src.rpm, redhat 9 or so came with it

qt2-devel*.rpm, surely? Something like ftp://ftp.redhat.com/pub/redhat/linux/9/en/os/i386/RedHat/RPMS/qt2-devel-2.3.1-13.i386.rpm or ftp://ftp.redhat.com/pub/redhat/linux/9/en/os/i386/RedHat/RPMS/qt-devel-3.1.1-6.i386.rpm
(When compiling a src.rpm, you don't need all the source to its requisites, which is what the qt2 src.rpm would (partly) give. You just need the headers and anything else the -devel RPMs would give. And the src.rpm you're recompiling, of course.)

*-devel RPMs invariably have dependencies on their base libraries, e.g. qt2-devel would require qt2 (otherwise there would be no library to link to) so you'd have to install that as well. Hopefully it wouldn't conflict with the current qt package.
Paul.
P.S. OK, a -devel package could be self-contained if it had a static library and you linked to that library, but that's unusual.

no, the qt2 src.rpm, which to rpmbuild --rebuild to make it compatible with fedora core and the changed c++ abi
