Greetings;
Over the weekend I tried to drag out my lappy and update it, getting ready to upgrade to FC6, its currently FC5, but about 2 weeks out of date.
To make a long story shorter, what with editing the repo addresses, putting fedoraproject.org in where downloads-redhat.com was due to the repo or mirroring failures, I now have a __.000db file that when I shut it down yesterday, was a zero length file and both yumex and smart package manager were spitting out terminal tummy aches over it. An 'rpm --rebuilddb' also fails, as does an "rpm --initdb"
Humm, now this morning, its back to complaining about an "invalid baseurl for core".
As that _000.db file seems to be missing now, and its not bitching about it ATM, whats the next step here?, I've been out of the loop since last wednesday, out on the road. So if its been posted, whats the subject line?

I've been trying to edit that and have it thoroughly fubared.
If I can't restore what was there, and amanda doesn't try to track that lappy, what is the correct contents for the "mirrorlist=" line in fedora-core.repo?
Where can I download a replacement for the contents of /etc/yum.repos.d? I've had google searching for it, but all it can seem to find is the livna setup instructions. They seem to be fine.

I agree, Mike. If this info was really in the wiki, I'm sure my google searching would have spit it out someplace in the 1st 5 pages of hits. It did not. IIRC I used "yum FC5 repo" as the word search.

How many fedora*.org wiki's are there? Maybe there should be some kind of list of official and unofficial fedora support sites somewhere.

The main strength of a wiki is that anybody (who has a login) can make changes to it.
The main weakness of a wiki is that everyone assumes someone else is going to make those changes.
I really don't mean to be negative here, but there is nothing stopping you from creating a login account and making up that list on the fedoraproject.org wiki. I think that it would be valuable to others in the community.
I'd do it but I am too lazy ... I mean ... "busy" ;] ... besides ... Googling and reading the mailing lists meets my needs most of the time.

In a seperate window: repodata/repomd.xml from core: [errno 256] No more mirrors to try.
Several of my files in /etc/yum.repos.d have been edited, and paths are probably AFU, it might be best to just replace the default file so I know they're good again, but there doesn't seem to be a net accessable set of these files available that google can find. The yum rpm is empty in that part of the tree. Bummer...
