you'll notice proxy_ajp.conf is gone from httpd. Now the mod is loaded by default anyways with no config, no one knows anything about this, what gives?

So does anyone use apache to proxy to tomcat then? i'm just trying to figure out why proxy_ajp.conf was dropped.
We use it regularly, didn't notice anything being dropped yet :-)

Did you check the changelog for the RPM? Perhaps the module is compiled into Apache now by default. "/usr/bin/httpd -M" will show the module list as loaded into Apache. "(shared)" means loaded via a LoadModule directive (via some config file), "(static)" means compiled into the Apache binary.

Followup to my previous posting...looking at things, /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf now has a "LoadModule proxy_ajp_module" line, so they moved it from a separate config file into the main config. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- - Rick Stevens, Systems Engineer, C2 Hosting ricks@nerd.com - - AIM/Skype: therps2 ICQ: 22643734 Yahoo: origrps2 - - - - Veni, Vidi, VISA: I came, I saw, I did a little shopping. - ----------------------------------------------------------------------

Yet another update to my postings. "rpm -q --changelog httpd" reveals this tidbit:
* Fri Jul 09 2010 Joe Orton jorton@redhat.com - 2.2.15-3 - default config tweaks: * harden httpd.conf w.r.t. .htaccess restriction (#591293) * load mod_substitute, mod_version by default * drop proxy_ajp.conf, load mod_proxy_ajp in httpd.conf * add commented list of shipped-but-unloaded modules * bump up worker defaults a little * drop KeepAliveTimeout to 5 secs per upstream - fix LSB compliance in init script (#522074) - bundle NOTICE in -tools - use init script in logrotate postrotate to pick up PIDFILE - drop some old Obsoletes/Conflicts

ya I know. I knew all that already, thats not what the question was at all.
