I just used the ones from update, and only one problem or three.
Flicker on viewing avi files, if compiz is executing.
Cannot do a switch user, or from the command line, issue an init 3.

Hi,
I installed the latest fglrx drivers from updates-testing as I was having some minor problems with the previous release. But since then the monitor keeps flickering intermittently. Is un-installing the current ones, and re-installing the previous drivers the only way to roll-back, or is there a more subtle way to do this?
$ yumno list installed|egrep 'fglrx|-ati' akmod-fglrx.x86_64 8.573-1.9.1.fc10 installed kmod-fglrx-2.6.27.12-170.2.5.fc10.x86_64.x86_64 xorg-x11-drv-ati.x86_64 6.9.0-63.fc10 installed xorg-x11-drv-fglrx.x86_64 8.573-1.9.1.fc10 installed xorg-x11-drv-fglrx-libs.x86_64 8.573-1.9.1.fc10 installed
TIA

fwiw, I 'yum remove'd the new packages and reinstalled the old ones, and all flickering has gone away.
When i had installed the 8.573-1.9.1.fc10 version, they were in updates-testing. however now I see them in updates. Good thing they still have the older version still available there. This looks like an ATI issue, as my XP install also has this flickering with the latest drivers.
Turning off compiz allows the viewing of graphics (videos) without flicker.
With compiz on, viewing graphics with any program (e.x. VLC) gives me a split screen, but no flicker. I have 9/10th of screen above a line, and 1/10th below a line, at my chosen resolution. I did not try to lower the screen resolution, will do it and report back.
The problem of lockup (keyboard, monitor et al) when trying to switch users is still present (even without compiz).
With the Fedora drivers, I can switch users without any problems. Again, video card is ati hd 3450 (64bit)
