does anyone notice yum cannot update in FC6? Even trying yum update yum fails:

I haven't been on FC6 this week, but if you:
yum install yum-skip-broken
followed by a
yum --ignore-broken update
you'll get as much as you can get

It's working fine for me although I did have some problems with duplicate packages recently. These links, kindly provided by Gregory P.Ennis in an earlier thread did the trick:
http://skvidal.wordpress.com/2006/12/04/re-wow/
http://linux.duke.edu/~skvidal/misc/dupes-cli.py
Not sure it'll solve your problem but it's worth a try, and a useful util to have.
Regards,
Chris.

Well I update using yum all the time. In your case (and that often happens) the versions of the things you want to install are not in sync with things already installed. That is sometimes an unresolvable problem. Often the update must be done in two stages. Thr first where yoy exclude updaating a particular package and the second where you install it separately.
