Hello. Anyone successfully synced a Palm Vx's memo with gpilotd? I always get an error (don't have the exact message right now). Anyway, syncing with jpilot works without any problems. Only when trying to sync using gpilotd. Everything else works perfectly. Is this a known bug? I've installed Fedora on 3 computers, and I get the same results with everyone. It seems (for me anyway) only the MemoFile conduit can't sync. Argh. Could anyway who has successfully done this paste their ~/.gnome2/gnome-pilot-d/memo_file-conduit configuration?
Thanks!

My MemoFile conduit works fine on a palm v running fedora core 1 (serial connection).
Here is a copy of the file you requested:
---- snip ---- [Pilot_6294] open secret=false secret mode=0600 file mode=0600 dir mode=0700 dir=/home/mjb/memo_file ignore end= ignore start= ---- snip ----

I had the same problem. However, after I created a directory in my memo_file directory for each Palm category (i.e. Business, Personal, etc.) it started to work. I set the conduit to copy everything from my Palm and it was all on my laptop.
My current problem is that it doesn't really sync. If I delete a file from my laptop, it doesn't delete the memo from the Palm. If I change something on my laptop, it doesn't change the item on my Palm. I just figured this out last night. I'm still looking into this issue. So, I don't have all the scenarios figured out yet.
Hope this helps!

I still can't get it to work! I've created all the categories I have, including "Unfiled", it still doesn't create anything in the directories. I've also read somewhere that gpilot might have trouble if there is no .categories file, but it seems that has already been solved. Although if I do touch a .categories file, the entire gpilot sync just crashes. Without the dot file, it doesn't create anything in each category directories. And as with you, i've set the conduit to copy everything from my palm.
My current problem is that it doesn't really sync. If I delete a file from my laptop, it doesn't delete the memo from the Palm. Might this have something to do with, as you've said above, you setting up the conduit to copy from palm, and not sync?
Hope this helps!
Still, thanks. Any help is great. I've temporarily using JPilot, just so I can sync Memos properly. Will probably stick to JPilot, as it seems to work better.

I did set the conduit to copy from palm for the initial "sync". Now it's set to sync, but it still doesn't sync properly.
It appears that this isn't just a problem with the memos conduit though. I noticed that I had some contacts that I deleted from my Palm and they were not deleted from Evolution.
The sync process seems to need some work.

I may have to switch to JPilot. I'm quickly losing confidence in the sync with Evolution.

I'm having very similar problems. Cant sync Calendars or Addresses with the palm. I know something is happening because if I do copy to palm I all my palm address entries get doubled up, but nothing ever appears in my Evolution address book, and my Evolution addresses never appear on the Palm. I know this used to work with Redhat 8 and ximian evolution, but then my palm died, and I only just replaced it. Mal.

I've almost always had this problem and similar ones. The only sort-of workaround I've found is to set Evolution's conduits all to "Copy From Pilot" first, copy everything, and only then set the conduits back to "Sync". Even then I get duplicate entries, or entries are deleted rather than synced, and so on. I haven't dug into it in enough detail to know exactly what's going on and file a proper bug report. Plus my Palm is fairly old, an M105 running PalmOS 3.something.
Off topic: For the duplicate entries problem, I found a Palm program called UnDupe very valuable and well worth $7.95. You can get it at http://www.stevenscreek.com/pilot/undupe.shtml .
I just downloaded multisync from sourceforge, it is semi-fuctional. It seems to sync the contact list ok. Task list seems to work, though the tasks only show up in the evolution summary and not the actual task panel. Calendar sync is non-functional. Mal.

I have about a dozen memos on my PDA that should be syncing. Any suggestions?
Unless your gnome-pilot-conduits were built from the gnome cvs and you're using an optional patch that someone sent to this list about 2 months ago, your Memo conduit isn't going to work properly on your system. Just disable it for now, until a new release of gnome-pilot-conduits comes out with these fixes.

Also, using the memos program will allow you write files to your computer from your Palm (and read them back into the Palm). Not a sync, but a hack.
