Hello there,
I finally got the eDns client to work properly. However, I have a few other questions. I want pilotalk.com to be accessible on ports 21, 22, 80, 8080. I have set "system-config-securitylevel" to allow these ports to be open. But it seems as though my issue is a resolving issue. Do I need to change resolv.conf for this to make the server see that it is pilotalk? Or what do people think needs to happen next?
Frank Cox asked the correct question: What is the issue? If you expect accurate help you need to provide more nouns and verbs. :-) But do you have any processes listening on the ports 21 (an ftpd), 22 (an sshd) and 80, 080 (an httpd)?

Yes,
they are all listening on the ports you list.

David L. Gehrt:
But do you have any processes listening on the ports 21 (an ftpd), 22 (an sshd) and 80, 080 (an httpd)?
Scott Berry:

I seem to recall from before that we worked out your ISP blocked port 80. They may block the other ports, as well.
Well Tim,
That's verry possible. But I was yusing dyndns.org which was not meeting my needs at all. I started using edns because of the name server ability and maybe if you check in a day or two the records should propagate through the Internet I hope. I am going to try to do the thing with the /etc/hosts and see what happens.

I don't find any results for it, still. I might expect a change to take a while to propagate through, though not that long. But new entries shouldn't take anywhere near that long. If they're available somewhere, they ought to be viewable straight away.

Didn't see the start of this thread, so didn't see if that is a FQDN or made up one? I use dyndns and have for few years now and it works like a charm.

Do a whois on the name, and you'll know. It has personal details, I wouldn't post them to the list without asking.
Actually now that I think about it Tim I had 22-23 working so I think that's just a matter of forwarding the ports from the router to 192.168.1.102.
