I see that FC3 now comes with Cyrus-IMAP as the standard POP3/IMAP server.. This seems to me like a great idea to make a mail toaster out of an FC3 box..
My plan is to try and use Postfix+Cyrus-IMAP but then I thought why not try and include Anti-virus (Clam-AV) and Anti-spam (Spamassassin)..
Anyone done this?? or have any pointers or suggestions for making this build as easy as possible?
Thanks..
I use dovecot, spamassasin and ClamAV (clmilter). Works pretty well all together.
I started configuring Cyrus-IMAP but did not see the usefulness of it for myself since I hvae less tha 20 mailboxes on this machine. Cyrus looks like a greta package if you are hosting MANY mail accounts.

or have grand delusions about becoming a sysadmin.
Google is your friend, and if you don't turn up a Gentoo doc you need lessons in Googling:-)
Hi,
I should say, good idea, but I'm trying now for more than a week to install cyrus-imap with postfix. But I'm having big problems with bdb libs. So I'm tired of all this and looking for another imap server, probably courier-imap.

You should also include a greylisting tool in such a project. In combination with spamassassin you can virtually eliminate all spam.
The good thing with greylisting is that your system won't get loaded down trying to process spam as can happen with spamassasin alone.

You did upgrade or a fresh install? If last, then dovecot should be the default POP3/IMAP server.

Sure people have done that. There are plenty of docs and howtos in the WWW.
