Thanks for all the suggestions. I've been using Pan and like it a lot but why is it so SLOW? On the windows side I had been using Gravity and it was very quick on my box (a lowly 1ghz). I think Pan is slower than Outlook Express (and thats slow). Is there something I can do to tweak it or my setup so it runs faster? Thanks.

Install a local caching news server. I have compiled the most recent release of Leafnode. ftp://ftp.tqmcube.com/pub/leafnode-1.11.0-1.i386.rpm

Leafnode is also in extras.

Why do you think that is the newest version?

After looking at the Fedora-Extras-List archive, though, this package doesn't seem to have a mantainer. Maybe David would like to do it?
