yeah i tried mod probe and i even tryied not giving an IRQ and then
dmesgsais :
unknown parameter '" io' isn that wierd?
No, you gave the command the IO parameter, which is not valid for that specific module.
what should i do? i am completely lost plus i have a verry limited
experience with linux so... please help me
modprobe 8139too
See "modinfo 8139too" for valid paramters for that module.

You used an invalid parameter (or invalid systax)
I use the 8139 nic in many machines and the only related line in my modprobe.conf is "alias eth0 8139too"
When I do it manually I do "modprobe eth0" or "modprobe 8139too". I NEVER have to use any options with my systems for that NIC, because it gets the address and irq automatically.

When a module is loaded it looks in a text file called either /etc/modprobe.conf (2.6 kernel) or /etc/modules.conf to see if there are any options listed in there for it to use with that module instead of the defaults.
It sounds like you have a line in there, something like
options 8139too irq=x io=y
edit the /etc/modules.conf //etc/modprobe.conf text file to comment out that line if it exists (put a # at the start of the line and save). Then do the modprobe again and see what can be seen.
