Hi Tim and all trying to help me,
What I found out is that the other cd drive in the computer was causing havoc so I went ahead and unplugged it as my Dad could only use this one now because it reads everything. Thanks for the help.
Scott

How would one automatically mount a combo drive which is both dvd and cd-rw?
Looking through this thread, I wonder if you've tried reading a disc that you haven't made yourself, yet? A pressed CD-ROM, DVD-ROM, or even DVD-video disc, would do as a test. Stick one in and wait a moment. If you're using KDE or Gnome, it ought to be handled fairly automatically. Though I remember reading some people had trouble if they'd upgraded to FC6 from a prior release, rather than doing a fresh FC6 install.

Don't send private replies to my address, the mailbox is ignored. I read messages from the public lists.
