I intalled latest skypeŘ and you need instal UVC webcam driver
Or maybe the GSPCA driver (from Livna), depending on your camera make/model.
Then see the Skype -> Options -> Video Devices tab. Latest Skype is skype-2.0.0.68-fc5.i586.

Are you saying that skype only works with the uvc or the gspca drivers? Because I do have the Quickcam working under linux (e.g. I can grab images with xawtv), and lsmod shows
quickcam_messenger 14917 0 usbvideo 25925 1 quickcam_messenger
so these are the drivers it's using. Skype does see the camera, but when I click on "TEST" in the little test window under options/video, the window remains black, no image. And also I don't have any start/stop video buttons in the chat window, or in any menu in skype.
Sorry, no that's not what I intended to suggest. If the camera is working, Skype should see it.
On the other hand, I had the following mysterious experience the other day: Suddenly, Skype wouldn't see the camera (same symptoms you describe). After fooling around with a couple of other camera apps and rebooting (and I don't recall for sure in what sequence I did these things), it started working again.
Do you have the latest Skype, latest kernel, latest version of your camera driver?
