the python.org rpm can coexist with the redhat rpm. if you are going to rebuild everything over the new python then its better to wait and upgrade and fc4 otherwise its just a big pain
i wasn't so much thinking of moving the entire system to python 2.4 as just starting to code some new stuff using it. and i'm assuming i should be able to do that without disturbing the current python infrastructure.
